Cave Story coming to WiiWare?

Hello.


The news come from an exotic site (it's a community site about Amiga computers, geeky and retro as hell) as you can see HERE, but it seems quite possible due to the fact that the Wii port was cancelled by some undisclosed reason and said to wait for news.

For the people that don't know Cave Story, it's an awesome game with retro style. The author was heavily inspired in the NES but of course overpassed certain limitations of the games for that system, just like Megaman 9 feels like the NES game but improved in interesting aspects.

This game has been a totally one-man project, he did EVERYTHING including programming and music, he did it in over five years. The name behind this masterpiece is Daisuke Amaya, art-name Pixel.





The game is called "Metroidvania" as share various similarities in gameplay and design, some people even mention it shares stuff from Metal Slug series too. The story occours in an underground world where (cute) creatures named Mimigas live. You are an android (not a retarded one, but self-conscient of itself) that comes from the surface to do an important mission.

I love absolutely everything from this game: music, gameplay, graphical design, levels and characters.

If this is true, I hope they include quite interesting extras. A level editor, able to hear the OST and more.

There was finally some new info bits about Cave Story Wii! It way be out as soon as late April! The sooner the better! Why so many exclamation points you ask! I am excited about this game!

I have refused to play the PC version, just because I want the experience to be all new.

That's somewhat of a minor shame. Not that it's a huge deal, but music matters a lot to me in a game, and I love Pixel's original bit-music for the game (I have a CD with the soundtrack that I listen to once in a while). I've heard some samples of the newer "updated" music, and although I'm sure I'll get used to it, I definitely think it lacks a certain quality of the original music so far.

It's in the game.
If you you like Cave Story, you should get it. A lot of people that have already played it are using the WiiWare version as a payment to Pixel for making the game in the first place. Plus with new Wii exclusive content it's kind of a no brainer.

I have a question for those who have played Cave Story already, about how long is the original?

Took me maybe 3-4 hours in total? Probably closer to 4. I don't know for sure but it definitely felt like there was a lot going on. And I'm ready to play through again to do all of the stuff I neglected to do the first time around (meaning extra weapons, etc).

95% of players (if not more) will have to replay the game a second time to see the true ending, because you have to do a few specific things in order to get the true ending that are not easily noticeable.
BUT the thing is, in playing the game through again, you can end up with completely different weapons and some other extra stuff you probably missed the first time around.

They seriously not making DLC for us to pay on the first day, right? I mean you said the game is complete and it should be release soon.

They said the game was basically complete a bit back and they were working on DLC.
I don't know WHY it's not out yet -- you have to remember that Nintendo controls when games get launched, so perhaps Nintendo is intentionally holding it back for some reason?

I hope there's no DLC for Day 1, but I'm willing to bet it will be just about done when the game releases. As itself, Cave Story is a very complete game, and I am not opposed in any way to paying extra for extra content, depending on what kind of content it IS.

According to IGN's database, Cave STory is now listed at a Q3 release.
WTF? I thought they said they were planning to release it by the end of LAST month at the LATEST?
