Mega Man X2 now available on VC!

Postby KingBroly » 18 Apr 2011 08:28

Today, 4/18/11 marks the day that Mega Man X becomes available on the Wii Virtual Console for 800 Wii points.

In addition, Mega Man 5 has been rated Everyone for Wii, so it too will be appearing on the Virtual Console in the near future.

EDIT:
Mega Man X2 has also been rated by the ESRB. If we buy it in bulk, we'll get the Far Superior version of X3.

EDIT 2:
Mega Man X2 is now available on the Virtual Console, as of 6-14-2012

I already have MMX on my SNES, so I'll pass on the VC version. I look forward to Mega Man 5 though.

I mean I already have it with Mega Man Anniversary Collection on GCN, but that game was flawed on GCN and PS 2. =/

The Anniversary Collections were terrible ports.

I kind of agree there, both have some problems, moreso with the X-Collection for Gamecube. Sure, MMAC swapped the A and B buttons, but it was manageable. MMXC on the other hand somehow botched up prog-scan SO BAD that it won't even display ANY image on a component cable - Gamecube OR Wii. Even with prog-scan off, you still get a black screen for most situations...yeah, sometimes the image will come back for things like the PSX Capcom movie-logo, but then the black screen will be back again.

So currently, the only way for me to play MMXC is to either reach back in an awkward space on my TV and disconnect all cables and reconnect the lousy composite cables for Wii, or like I'm doing now, just making use of my old Gamecube and using S-video for it.

Honestly, I'm going the already-paid-for route, especially since getting MMX4~6 on VC is highly unlikely(even getting X2 and X3 because of the special Capcom-chips is doubtable really). And as far as X1 by itself, I also have the orignal cartrdige and instruction booklet for it(just not the box; I bought it off of a kid at school years ago, so I'm surprised enough that he gave me the booklet). But it's great that a graphically-working version for Wii is out. Makes me wonder how many people with Wii(who don't download them from a website) still haven't played MMX1 yet, and might actually really like it.

just bought it & beat Chill Penguin. Nostalgia ftw. Man this game is great.

also, i hated the Collection ports as well. IDK how many (if any) people on here have a PSP, but Maverick Hunter X on PSP is easily the best version since the original. i never really liked any of the X games after the first but they we're still OK...wouldn't mind getting some of 'em on the VC.

Maverick Hunter X sucks. It changes everything, unlike Powered Up, which keeps everything to its' original details.

lol i didn't like Powered Up as much... idk why. i bought 'em both, but i ended up liking Maverick Hunter more...played through MHX about 3 times but only once through Powered Up. might have just been the art style... i'll have to play through both of them again if i can find my PSP.

BTW just beat all the bosses/Mavericks on the original, currently finding the suit upgrades. i love this game

Bought it, beat it. Still very good. I prefer X2 myself, hopefully it comes sooner rather than later. X3 as well since it got a very short run in North America and the Collection version SUCKS.

on the X collection, instead of using the SNES version of X3, they used the Saturn version, which some people dislike. i personally thought the Saturn version had better music though.

The music in X3 on PS1 is worse, not to mention the AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL Buster Charging sound.

The problems I personally have with the X Collection was:
1) The poor sound quality especially in X1 (poorly looped music) and the Saturn version of X3. Also the audio volume was very low for the X games (X1-X4), that you probably needed to max out your TV volume just to hear anything.

2) Capcom stuffed Mega Man Battle and Chase into the X Collection despite the racing game being a spin-off of the Classic Mega Man series. They couldn't bother with adding Mega Man Xtreme 1 and 2 in the collection instead?

Also, Progressive Scan doesn't work for the X Collection. It looks very, very bad.

"Mega Man still alive, X2 coming to VC"

X2 coming to VC justifies the fact that the series is still alive?

I don't really see how this game means Mega Manj is still alive, but I guess the fact where getting the game is cool in itself.

Woopdee Doo

X Collection has been out for 5 years

And this doesn't mean that Megaman is still alive. Call me when they announce X9 (although now without Inafune, it has even less of a chance of happening)

Yes, because it means Capcom is still putting out Mega Man products in some form.

And the X-Collection and Anniversary Collections both suck, which is why people want the original versions released. Particularly the NES games.

I own megaman x collection i never played the original game but id see the issuse wth these ports other then having to unlock battle and chase(which i heard was terrible) still mmxc was 19 bucks so paying 8 dollars for each game and waiting years to see the first 6 mmx games(literally because we just got mmx earlier this year) idc how watered down the port is your paying less the 4 dollars per game versus 8 dollars each.

Beside vc means i can't use action replay (mmx may not be as bad as mm 1 or 2 but it's still too tough for my tastes)
That being said i might decide to buy this game later down the road as i might sell mmxc idk yet.
Oh can some one tell me did megaman maveric hunter x have a level editor like powered up?
I really hope it does because mmhx is on psn and powered up will never be on psn apparently.

Both the MMAC and MMXC are bad. AC is worse by a mile though with input lag, terrible cropping and visual errors. XC is a misstep because it lacks the true version of X3, aka the SNES version. The PSX version has terrible music and effects that really ruin a large portion of the game.

That's why I bought X2, because I want X3.

Oh geez, thanks for the heads up. I stopped checking the VC weekly releases since it's been so dead lately, I might have to snag this. You're definitely right about the Collections being a bit off...they're just not quite the same.

Hopefully we'll see X3 soon, and I'm still hoping for Megaman 7 to come out at some point! Always been one of my faves even though a lot of people don't like it that much. The AC absolutely ruins the music and sound of that game, so hopefully it'll be VC material soon.
