Too Many Puzzle Games on WiiWare...

Postby Two400 » 25 Dec 2008 15:09

There are so many puzzle games on WiiWare...What is Nintendo thinking approving the same type of game for release week after week! It needs more platformers. It doesn't need to have good graphics or anything.

Mega Man 9 proves that a more hardcore game can have poor graphics and still be incredibly fun. I wish more developers would follow that lead and stop making puzzle games!

Are you trashing World of Goo?

That's about the only (in my opinion) good WiiWare game.

I've been back and forth about Tetris Party and Dr. Mario. Plus I ran out of memory space a while ago.

But it would be most cool if more platform remakes made their way to WiiWare.

while I can't defend tiki towers since it looks like a bland, uninspired attempt at world of goo, good puzzle games kick ass due to the ability to pack variety, challenge, strategy, and REPLAY VALUE in to a relatively small package in terms of file size. That said, Wiiware has some amazing puzzle offerings, (download and play every Art Style game! They are absolute steals at 600 points each and will provide uniquely complex gameplay shrouded by initial simplicity), and is not yet at a point where you could say that there are too many. The downloadable space is going to naturally bring a puzzle game majority, but you should just take solace in the fact that Last Flight, Cave Story, Lit (quasi puzzle game), and Animales de la Muerte (among others) are coming down the pipe fairly soon, as well as a sequel to Lost Winds.

I think puzzle games are a perfect match for the service, I mean, how many of us wold pay pull admission price for a Wii puzzler. Puzzle games are smaller and simpler, so it's natural they'd have the overflowing quantity on Wiiware. I agree though, more platformers are needed!
