The guy is a joke, as I've mentioned many times in the past.

So no. He shouldn't be even mentioned on this site, if you ask me. Unless it were as the subject of a hilarious joke.

Hearing stories about kittens playing Tetris? Awesome. Because kittens are awesome.

Hearing about Pachter, is kind of like finding out you have a math test on Monday.

we don't post everyone in the industry's--and certainly not the media's--opinions, why should he get such high billing when he's no more accurate than a local weather guy? do we or the industry really need to have or hear a daily forecast? if causing firestorms is his only talent, who wants that kind of social environment on this site?

Nearly every analyst quote is for "financial clients", so should we not post any analyst quotes on GoNintendo? Pachter isn't the only analyst quoted on GoNintendo...he's just the best known.

I think it's more because people don't like Pachter because they don't agree with what he says.

So, is it an "all-or-none" approach? Or is it a, "Just leave Pachter out, and report the rest", approach?

I think if someone wants financial stock analysis, they'll go to a website that specializes in that. GoNintendo, as long as I've been coming here, has been strictly about gaming news, and actual game related stories. Hearing some guy's vague guesses and speculation on what he thinks this that or the other video game company is going to do, isn't gaming news or game related. It's just babble for investors.

i don't think any of it is relevant to readers and certainly isn't news.. so none of them really belong in our headlines. pachter is the poster boy, so he started the discussion.

I agree, I usually just see financial analyst news posts as wasted space. unless they are accidentally letting something newsworthy slip.

Well see, I actually enjoy the financial side of the games industry, as I am going into the industry.

I follow certain games on the stock market, and I like reading what the analysts say.

Now, I know I'm in the minority, but I'm guessing that not every story reported is relevant to every single reader on GoNintendo...or more importantly, interesting.

If RMC wouldn't post just one little line or one paragraph snippets from Pachter and other analyst interviews...OR, if GoNintendo readers clicked the "LINK" on each article to read them, we could get the full picture that we may miss sometimes.

well, if you plan on being on the biz side of the gaming industry, you'd be better served by a more dedicated site related to financial news/gaming finances than a sensational headline and quote taken out of context on a fan blog. so even for those interested, the approach to presenting pachter-type information isn't suitable for GN.

That's why I always click the "link" and I do visit Gamasutra and IndustryGamers on a daily basis.

If you follow the financial side of gaming well enough you can pretty much predict what will happen done the line.
