Weird site refesh problem

Postby Janaff » 04 Nov 2007 12:53

Hey, I was wondering if anyone can help me, or if anyone has this same problem...

Whenever I visit the site, It always seems to be behind, meaning the top post is actually not the most recent one. I only figured this out when I clicked a post and saw at the top the links to the next and previous pages. I don't usually use the refresh button (which works-giving me the most recent post) but I click the banner. The banner has always worked as a refresh button for me, until recently.

I guess I can just hit the reset button in my browser, but I find it strange that the banner doesn't do the trick anymore..... :?

I've been using opera and I must say I've experienced the same thing. I guess since we all use different browsers that it's something wrong with the server/coding/something?

what you're experiencing is likely an effect of the server caching. it takes anywhere from a couple minutes to 10 minutes between the time something is actually posted by one of us before the story goes 'live', depending on when during the cache cycle the 'publish' button is pressed. the data, however is live in the database, so i wouldn't be surprised that the discrepancy between live on the server and live on the web might cause some weird-outs for browsers from time to time.

if there are major errors related to this, however, please be very specific in your post, so we can best diagnose and fix.

ive never noticed, but then again it cud be because i never really look at the time things are posted, i just take it that it is up to date - must check next time! (P.S. i use firefox and/or opera so again its a server thing...)
