IPs that you want to be completely reinvented

Postby Eternal Rain » 25 Nov 2011 11:36

In other words, a certain game IP that appeals to you, but you feel like "if this series were a different genre then maybe it'd appeal more towards me." One example would have to be the game "Rabbids Go Home." The Rabbids series has pretty much always been known for being a party game/minigame compilation series, but in 2009 an entry in the series that was of a different genre was released, called "Rabbids Go Home," which was more of a quirky action-adventure game. The game was pretty well received and considered a nice change up for the series, with some people even saying they wish Ubisoft would make another Rabbids game in that style.

My vote goes for Mario and Sonic, for reasons that should be obvious. Now I have nothing against the current series of Mario and Sonic games, but I do have to agree that it does feel very strange that we've gotten 3 sports/minigame compilation game crossovers, and yet not one platformer crossover. I mean, heck, these two characters are best known for being the two biggest platformer stars in the world, so why hasn't this happened yet? I say that for the 4th Mario and Sonic it's time for Nintendo and Sega to finally give fans what they asked for since before even the original Mario and Sonic: a crossover platformer that combines the strengths of each series. Seeing as we now have a Sonic game (Generations) and a Mario game (3D Land) that combine the best of the old and the new, a crossover game where the best of both worlds come together shouldn't be far behind.

Metroid - No more of Yoshio Sakamoto and his secretive bullshit

Activision's Franchises - Some can be yearly iterations, others not so much

Assassin's Creed - No more yearly iterations, series has become completely stale and stagnant

God of War - Just start over with a new mythos and character. They ruined the first trilogy pretty well with terrible contradictions.
Mega Man 9 isn't hard, you're just not paying attention
Sakamoto Lied. Samus Died.

ugg, god of war. there is some solid game play there, but the dripping teenage angst just ruins it for me.

Metroid- Best I can see happening is he stops writing the stories and just produces, like what he was doing with Super Metroid.

Activision franchises- I wish Activision didn't can Sledgehammer's 3rd person, action-adventure CoD. From what I've heard, it would have played similarly to Uncharted. That would have been an awesome way to reinvent the IP, but alas they canceled it in favor of just having Sledgehammer assist Infinity Ward with MW3. Either bring back that 3rd person game, or at least keep following the Black Ops path. Black Ops appeals to me more because of it's atmosphere and story.

Assassin's Creed- Now I haven't played Brotherhood or Revelations yet so I can't say I agree with you just yet on this one (gonna be getting both of them as Christmas gifts this year). All I can really say, though, is that Revelations is supposed to be the end of Ezio and Altiar's stories, so at least AC3 will give us a new setting and main character to liven things up.

God of War- I've only played the original, so I don't really have an opinion there. I don't even own a PS3 so I wouldn't be able to play the third game anyway.

Dead Rising. I really want to like it, but the gameplay is just... meh. And repetitive. With the next iteration, Capcom needs to: 1) significantly tweak the gameplay gameplay (combat, customization, etc.) and 2) use the Euphoria Engine 8)

also, i'll probably think of more games to add to this post in the near future.

I'd love for them to do this. I just don't see where they can go now with either Kratos or Greek mythology... I mean they've pretty much killed off everybody of any vague interest anyway.
