I've recently found my old Pokemon Red game, and the save battery is still intact. Going through it feels like a rush of childhood nostalgia (and proud of the troll I was back then, naming a Level 50 Magikarp "MEW", and remembering the circumstances of how it happened). Alas, Pokemon Gold was not as lucky.
However, I know that the save battery is numbered in years, if not months at this point. I've been hoping to find a way to backup the save file to my PC and play on a ROM, but all these GB Transferer 2's and GB Xchangers cannot be found ANYWHERE online, which is rather depressing. Then I recently came across the Gameboy Mega Memory Card. It may not transfer save files to the computer, but it DOES backup a hundred game saves, including the likes of the GB and GBC Pokemon games, which could buy me the time I need until I can back it up. Problem was, as I came across an old unanswered GameFAQS thread, someone was saying after backing up their save file to it and getting Pokemon Red's battery fixed, trying to restore the save file always came up with a "Save Data Corrupted" message and only allowed to start a new game.
Anyone with experience on being able to backup a GameBoy game to the PC, or at least to the Mega Memory Card
