Hey, you guys are mssing the point.
U2 is a game all about the thrill of the moment, with great cinematics, awesome always changing settings, tight controls and evolving gameplay. Doing a single player demo would bring many issues: doing a half hour demo from the beginning wouldn`t show all the gameplay possibilities (which are MANY) and the game's proper pace, and a demo from later hours would not only spoil some of the thrills and story development but make you lost for not knowing how to play. Doing an online multiplayer demo gave them the chance to show the ideas for the locales, let you discover the gameplay possibilities of the game, and enjoy part of the visuals all without spoiling the magnificent sp campaing. I too don`t care about multiplayer, but, as most people have to log online to download the demo anyway, offering an online-only demo isn`t that much of a bad idea.
Seriously... I`m a Nintendo lover, I never liked the PlayStation brand and most of its big name titles, and I still think that the current HD titles are nothing more than last gen titles with new (bad, yes, even for this title, even being the best looking current gen game, alongside KZ2) coats of paint and shallow, badly put together new "mechanics" (like breakable environments, which became famous with HL2 and still wasn`t beaten in being integral part of gameplay, IMO)... but U2 sold me a PS3, and it is worth every penny. I`m on my third playtrhough - on Crushing - and it only gets better each time I play. Still didn`t get the chance to touch multiplayer, and there is still so much to get and do on sp that I don't even feel the need to move on, ever.
Bottom line, if you have a PS3, you need U2 in your library. If you don`t, it is time to buy one. Heard the first one is really rough around the edges, but this title is something else.
Oh, I have to recommend to start on Hard. AI is so much better; it doesn`t just make them with super aim and take more bullets, but actually make them more dynamic and smart. You`ll die a bit, but there are plenty of well designed checkpoints and the satisfaction is much bigger.
@A_A: You are in for a ride, then. Hard is much better, and Crushing makes the game quite different. Bosses are way easier, though.
@Golbez: Not GOTF, but definitely one of the best this gen for me. Hype always makes things seem like the BEST THING EVAR, even if they are just really, really good.
@Androo: Man, some guys didn`t play it yet. Please cover those spoilers with spoiler tags... Select the text and click on the spoiler button between the reply title and the writing space.
