Yes, make no mistake, this is a blatant rip-off of Super Smash Bros. but look at it this way: Nintendo created a new genre of fighting game. Much like Mario Kart created a new genre of racing game (Diddy Kong Racing, Crash Team Racing, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing to name a few), with games like Shonen Jump All-Stars, Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion, and now PlayStation All-Stars To The Rescue it's clear that Nintendo tapped into a new style of fighting game just like Street Fighter II did all those years ago. Maybe these games won't reach the level of quality of Smash Bros. (god knows Cartoon Network didn't) but, if I were Nintendo, I'd be pretty damn proud about seeing these companies make games like this and thinking "We did this first."

I'd go so far as to say if it is a clone it WILL be a good game. And really I'm ok with that. If what the debut states was true, and they are getting a lot of input from competative players to make this game then let the competative players who whine all the time go play that game and leave Sakurai to do his thing. What I don't like is people, like douche Keiley on the show, acting so suprised and blown away by all the stuff being shown...yeah like NONE of this has ever been done before..nooot at aaaaaaaaaaaaaaall. What a fraud. This is why spike and gametrailers and g4 are so mind numbling aggrivating to watch. They just ooz bias and shamlessly pander to dudebro demographics to boost ratings. 'Never mind the quality or orginality of the game we're showing. We'll just over hype and suck the teet of the backwards wearing hatbros that bring in our ad revenue.'

People argue whether or not Sony franchises are important as Nintendo franchises or not, but that's not really the question they should be asking. People don't care about who'd win in a fight between Sony franchises.

But to be honest, I think this game is missing the point of what makes Smash Bros., in fact, Smash Bros.

B - The gameplay. Smash Bros. prides itself on "Easy to Play, Hard to Master." This game is being made to cater more towards the fighting game crowd, and because of that, the barrier to entry will be much higher since every character is going to have different button and input commands, where as Smash Bros. it's just A/B Plus Direction.
C - The name. Playstation All-Stars would've sufficed. But adding the Battle Royale part at the end. Horrible. HORRIBLE. Simpler is better in naming franchises.
