Best way to transfer files??

Postby littleman00 » 12 Oct 2009 11:27

Thinking about getting a new Xbox 360 hard drive (I have an old 20gb). I checked MS's website and apparently the only way to transfer files from a smaller drive to a larger one is to buy a transfer kit. But, it's really only good for that one transfer and I don't want to spend money on something I'm only going to use once.

I have a new Arcade unit, with around 300mb built-in memory free. Can I use that to move files to, then move them to the larger drive once it's installed?

i am sorry to tell you that the only way to transfer the files is from the transfer kit, unless you use some third party software that i really wouldn't be too sure it can be trusted and you still may have to pay for it too. I am pretty sure that the 120gb HDD does come with a transfer kit in it. so that would save you a little money there.

I'm pretty sure you only need the transfer kit if you're going from a hard drive to another hard drive. You can move files from a memory unit or the onboard storage through the dashboard.

Hard Drive to Hard Drive > Transfer Kit
(These are only available in Hard Drives you buy off the shelves; or from Microsoft directly)

Memory Card to/from Hard Drive
Maybe not your BEST way to do things considering the horrible pricing structure Microsoft has on their storage accessories, but it's probably the only way.
