What are some things you want in there?

I'm hoping for 3rd party characters and DLC tracks to be available (ex. 1-2 tracks every week or two).

Not to be a negative nancy or anything, but I'm extremely sure neither of those will be in Mario Kart 3DS, especially the 1st one. It's called MARIO Kart for a reason, it's not Smash Bros, so 3rd party characters most likely won't be in the game. And outside of Smash Bros and Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again, what Nintendo titles have had DLC?

Honestly, everything that's already been confirmed will make me satisfied. 8 people online, hang gliding, new karts and customizations, new characters, new tracks, all running in 60FPS in 3D.

yeah i doubt we'll get 3rd party characters... Regardless: Retro + 8 players online + running at 60 fps = me being excited  I DO think DLC tracks are a very good idea, i just doubt we'll see any.

It would be fun to have a track editor and you could trade custom tracks online. I always thought it would be awesome to have a Nintendo Kart game with Nintendo characters from various franchises. Probably not gonna happen, but more likely than third party characters.

I'd just wish they'd rename it "Super Smash Bros. Racing" and get on with mixing in other characters.

Everything they have said so far has me wanting to buy this game, but I would also like some new items, characters, and not getting hit with the blue shell so much when you are in first place... I didn't hear any news about bikes so hopefully they are out too. I didn't really like MK: Wii and I think that is part of the reason why, as well as the fact that there was only 1 player GP mode instead of the usual 2 player. I'm hoping there will be a way where you can race in the GP mode with 2 players using only one copy of the game.

Well, it would be too easy to unlock everything that way. If they are only having 8 racers at once having 4 of them being your own wouldn't be fair, but I think 2 players is okay.

I think some downloadable tracks would be an awesome idea. I would also hope they keep the single cartridge download play for multiplayer. One thing that would make my day is to involved the coins you collect on the 3DS pedometer. Hopefully we can use those to purchase parts for the karts, unlock characters or tracks. After beating Find Mii twice and not being able to find a new puzzle pieces I am hoping for a new reason to have all these coins.

Well, Iwata addressed the problem, that pretty much everyine finished Find Mii, so he said they're looking to offer something new with Streetpass and coins.
As for downloadable tracks, I think that could be possible with the with the 3DS. They already have downloadable content in Samurai Warrior, and kinda downloadable content in Nintendogs+Cats. Nintendo seems to be more serious with SpotPass than with WiiConnect24 apparently :P so that could be a possibility.

I honestly doubt we'll see either of those, but I wouldn't be surprised if they included downloadable tournaments like Mario Kart Wii, Online leaderboards like Mario Kart Wii, and streetpassing ghost data (which will be awesome after they sell millions of 3DS alongside Mario Kart...)

I see this happening...I'd like to see some AR integration too

Koopzilla wrote:It would be fun to have a track editor and you could trade custom tracks online.

ME WANT. Sadly, I think the only time we'll be customizing things in this iteration is on the karts...I think that kart editor shows they have intent to expand what people can do though, and I'd say the Wii U Mario Kart will definately have a track editor. Designing tracks without the TV on that controller would be sweet! Then imagine uploading it, downloading others, and racing all without the TV...Nintendo has a chance to do some great stuff with Mario Kart on Wii U. It will destroy ModNationRacers "Play.Create.Share." integration if done right...

This game is looking like it's gonna be great, and the 3D looks to be very impressive! Throw in some Retro level design, even if for only one level, and I'm sold. Can't wait!!

I always love to see tracks that are actually based on something from other games rather than just made up. Tracks like Tick Tock Clock, Airship Fortress, the new DKCR track, etc. So I'd love to see more tracks like that. A SMG track would be awesome, as would a track set in Subcon. A Wario Land themed track would also be great.

Track customization would also be an awesome feature as Mod Nation Racer for the PS3/PSP contains it and that's a really strong competition to Mario Kart, me thinks. At least in terms of how it plays, not so much popularity.

Play Station fanboys would then accuse Nintendo of ripping of Mario kart. I would then start laughing at the irony of the hypothetical situation.

Mario Kart 7 and the Flare Red 3DS would make a perfect combination don't you think?

I want MK7 to surprise me. In recent memory, the games have been very same-y, and so I want them to do something fresh. Knowing Retro, they could easily put some sort of spin on the gameplay that would mix things up enough to make it a fresh experience that retains the competitive fun of its predecessors. In terms of character choice, I really don't want to see fillers. The babies and Dry Bowser in Wii(not to mention Toadette)could have easily been replaced by more diverse characters, such as E. Gadd or Kamek. Also, it goes without saying that items should be far more balanced than in Wii.

On a tangent, how do people feel about snaking? It seems like the abuse of such techniques unintended by the programmers separate pros from casual players, but I kind of feel it just gives the user an unfair edge.

Eh, I didn't really mind it, it gave me something to practice and master, and thus kick ass online in Mario Kart DS, but it did make the game a bit unbalanced for people who don't what the hell to do. Although it was for the greater good of balancing the game, removing it in Mario Kart Wii kind of made racing a bit more slow-paced and boring compared to the absolute rush of Mario Kart DS. I don't really mind either way, as long as they balance the items right this time. Mario Kart Wii was a total mess in that respect.

I'm curious if some people know that Retro isn't making this game or not, all they did was just help create the Donkey Kong Returns stage.
I'm fine with whats been announced for it so far, but I would love if E. Gadd was in it this time.

The feeling of DLC is just another kick in the balls, makes me feel like I'm paying $40-$60 for an incomplete game.

Can we finally get a WarioWare character in this game? I'm surprised they haven't made an appearance in a Mario spin-off yet.
