Battle System was boring, a character cast filled with a******, a story that made no sense, blegh. A bad start to the Tales series for me. I stopped around 6 hours in, so maybe I'm missing something... I'll get back to it eventually, and who knows? Maybe I'll enjoy it. I just hope it doesn't drag on... that's the worst part of JRPGs that are anything less and good and engaging for me.

If you don't enjoy the battle system you probably won't like the game. It's basically what all Tales games are like though, but you do learn more skills and stuff later on that make it better. And the characters are mostly unlikable until you get quite a bit further than 6 hours in (especially the main character, at first I thought this was the worst main character ever, but ended up liking him in the end). The story eventually will start making sense too.

Yeah, whenever I go back to it I hope it'll get better as it goes on. The battle system isn't terrible, but it is boring and sorta difficult when uncontrolled characters do their own thing that they don't need too. If you could tell me one thing, does the game just drag on for a while at any point (doing nothing with little progress)? If it doesn't then I'll definitely continue.

Koopzilla wrote:Not entirely sure what you mean, but theres pretty much something always going on. There are a lot of optional side quests. It could be beaten a lot faster than I did but I did everything I could. Theres also a New Game + option after you beat it. You can carry stuff over and get bonuses like double exp. but you have to earn enough grade to buy those bonuses. If you just plan on playing through once and don't care too much about side quests I would guess it could probably be beat in about 50 hours.

But I had SSF4 and Steel Diver. Not much to do in those though.
