Ambassador Program (Zelda II NES Update Out)

Postby Mykelti » 12 Aug 2011 03:11

Greetings fellow board journalists!
Feels great to post again, as I've been here since '06, but my profile info changed upon some password problems...
But y'all make me feel welcome as always.

On topic:
Checked my eShop's news(@ 2am here, lol) to see if there was anything new upon the beginning of the big discount day, and...
POOF! My Ambassador designation was gone. Probably just procedure, but nothing new was posted, and if so the verification would've been pushed down a slot -no?
Just wondering what the saavy folks here may know.
Should be no biggie. They said said to stay tuned for more anyhow.
(one almost expects some kind of badging/permanent designation after)

-Did this also happen to you?

Thanks!
Mike

I do remember having an eShop message saying I was an ambassador and all the details it would imply but I believe they removed it like they removed the expired ambassador videos the other regions had. And as you have said, I don't think it's a big deal considering we still have the spotpass notification telling us of the ambassador program. I too thought there would've been some type of branding but I guess our games will be the distinction for ambassadors.

Greetings as well and Sorry about your account problems, I hope they stay more stable in the future.

My guess is that Nintendo removed it so that people connecting to the eShop after the date will never get to see anything about the Ambassador Program. This way they don't get mad/ jealous about not getting the games. Also, no need to display the message when the program is over...

Mine went missing after it appeared too. Maybe it is already done? At least I made it though.

Thanks much for chiming in everyone & the considerate welcome CHAOSDRAGON88! (as long as I stay in touch, it's fine + we've probably been @ some of the same big Nintendo Store events, lol)

Yep, Mako -that makes perfect sense! That message just felt personal, like an email, but being in news was certainly temporary. We should have had a special, direct notification of sorts that we can keep! (if possible...)
*wishes the same named voice-actor who played "Aku", didn't pass away before a final, feature-legnth "Samurai Jack" film could be made...* :(

Appreciate it, enjoy the rest of summer &/extra time with your 3DS'! :D

This is why Nintendo should have done the notification through SpotPass and gave that notification specifically to those who have met the criteria and are in the program.

That would have been possible, right? That's a lot better than the way they've done it here.

In a official Nintendo news, Nintendo has stated that you are still in the program, just that the removal of the message both confirms you are in the program and so that others don't get it too.

If I'm not mistaken we also got a spot pass message saying the same thing? Actually, that it what my username is from. He was my favorite voice actor! I also really liked him in Avatar as Iroh. :)

This is true, but at least people going onto the eShop won't see it under "news" and think it applies to them. It could lead to some confusion.

Ambassador program

Postby luigi_owns » 14 Aug 2011 12:45

Wasn't it guaranteed to happen on or before August 12th? I haven't heard as much as a whisper about it. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Nintendo named 5 of each, nothing more. I thought they said they'd announce them already but I guess those plans changed.

It's quite funny really I contacted Nintendo about this matter of not announcing the Ambassador titles and received this cookie-cutter response.

Hello,

Thank you for writing. It sounds like you are already aware, but I can only confirm that starting September 1st, Nintendo 3DS Ambassadors will be able to download ten NES Virtual Console games. Then, before the end of 2011, Nintendo will provide Nintendo 3DS Ambassadors with ten exclusive Game Boy Advance Virtual Console games.

Additional information is available on the following web site:

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/system ... ssador.jsp

Please keep checking back regularly as new information will be available when it is announced.

Sincerely,

David L. Allen

It's actually "Yoshi's Egg" in Japanese, better known as just "Yoshi" in North America. Yoshi's Cookie is a completely different game that, in my opinion, is a bit more fun than 'Yoshi' was. I'm just pointing it out because we still have the cartridge/box/instruction manual for Yoshi, but we only rented Yoshi's Cookie once, and I always wished we had the latter.

If that's all ten, it's a little bit disappointing of a list... it's more or less made up of first/second year games that are pretty basic and have been played to death. But if it's true that those games will later see enhancements that we get for free when the general public gets them, then that'll be interesting I suppose. And free games are nice when you suddenly spend hundreds of dollars on your teeth unexpectedly. I just wish they weren't the same games I've already played. I guess portable Metroid/Zelda/Zelda-II will have to do, though.

Ambassador program games for non-ambassadors

Postby dakranii » 30 Aug 2011 09:30

Perhaps this has been discussed in here already, I just couldn't find it. Has there been any confirmation regarding ambassador games being available for those who are not eligible for the program? I never played Metroid Fusion, so I was looking forward to being able to buy it at a later date, but it's my understanding that may not be possible. Or at least is in question.

they have not announced the 5 other games for either GBA or NES. All 10 NES games will be available for purchase at some point but Nintendo said they have no plans to release the 10 GBA games to anyone that isnt an ambassador. but you never know if thats true with nintendo, maybe they just wanted people to buy 3DS's to get in on the games

EDIT: They have been announced actually. check the other topic.
