Anyone with the following: 2 3DS consoles, each with MK7

Whats better then one screen? Well two screens of course! Current-gen portables inside: DS, Lite, DSi, DSXL, 3DS...

Anyone with the following: 2 3DS consoles, each with MK7

Can you connect to the same access point and play lag free? I ask this question because I have been pulling my hair out since January trying to figure out why when I connect two units to my access point and begin a race in mario kart, our entire connection slows to a crawl, upwards of 2k ping. But it's ONLY with Mario kart.

http://techforums.nintendo.com/message/62233#62233 <-- this is a thread describing my problem, but I'm posting here to ask if any forum go'ers have 2 units, each with their own copy of Mario kart to test to see if they can play lag free in the same race. Note that interacting with the other unit does not count, the rest of the racers will lag out of control but you can still play seamlessly with whoever is on the same access point.

I'm trying to find out if this is a consistent issue with Mario kart, or if it's my connection. Everything else on the network plays just fine, but not Mario kart.

Would appreciate the help

I have a US 3DS and a JAP 3DS both with their respective Mario Kart 7 so maybe I can help. :)

I'll get back to you once I see the results of my findings.

I've been successful with me, my girlfriend and my brother all playing together on the same access point multiple times and haven't experienced any problems. Are you sure it's not something weird with your connection?

OK so I had both my 3DSes on the same access point.

I started off with having both Mario Kart 7s join in a racing community. The result was that there was no lag, slow downs whatsoever during the beginning and throughout the races.

So next I proceeded with having them both join a battle community and again no lag or slow downs occurred.

So finally I proceeded with having them both join online free-for-all races with random people (some with VRs up to 10000 & up. :o ) The beginning and through the races I experienced no lag, slow downs, nothing. The frame rate remained unchange and smooth as always on my end.

I have Time Warner Cable internet (Road Runner internet speed I think :?) thats hooked up to my Linksys E2500 | Advanced Dual-Band N Router. (Wifi Router :p )

Are you using one of the more newer routers or is yours a more older one?

That's refreshing to hear, at least. I've had this linksys WRT320N since like 2010. Seeing as you two have been able to play on the same access point with other people, I'm beginning to believe my friends guess that it might be a bandwith problem as my connection speed is like 1.5mb/s and my upload is around there too.

I just have trouble seeing it when I can get everything else on the network connected at, but when two Mario kart's go at once everything goes horribly wrong. I'm going to check with two copies of SF4: 3D edition. I really feel that this must be an IP related problem or something of that nature

Honestly I have let this problem simmer for a while but I don't want to bump into this issue when Kid icarus launches this Friday

Thank you again for testing for me, much appreciated :)

EDIT: Could I please ask for your bandwidths? I spoke with a representative again today and after trouble shooting for nearly 2 hours, it boils down to bandwidth or my router. I was asked to find out what connections the people who had success have

My router has Simultaneous Dual Band - 2.4 + 5 GHz which seems to double my network bandwidth to avoid interference and maximize throughput. (both my 3DSes are always at 3 full bars ) :p

No thanks needed, I'm happy to help in anyway I can. ^_^

I'm using a Netgear N150 WRN1000 v3 router. It has speeds of up to 150 Mb/s, but I'm not sure how to check the bandwidth or anything :/ There's also another router I've been successful with using, but I won't be able to check that until I come home this Friday.
