Is like, the NEWs series have a more 2D perpective that DK and Kirby, and (DK and Kirby) they look a lot more 3D-ish but they still a 2D platformer game.

And dont think bad about me i LOVE all marios games but NSMB2 looks a little...lazy reusing music and sames worlds.

With the addition of Coin Rush mode, I don't think NSMB2 is being lazy at all. Also, from what I've read, Nintendo will release additional downloadable Coin Rush levels which will make the game even more different. I don't know if these downloadable levels will be free though.

CrispyGoomba wrote:A little random, but I really want to see how NSMB2 DLC sales go. We all know that the game is going to sell like wildfire so I guess it depends on the quality and price of the DLC.
On the other topic, a level designer would be a good addition. However, I won't fret if there is none. On that note, I read that someone said a level designer would 'destroy' all of the other levels. That's not necessarily true because look at the Mario vs Donkey titles. I know one of the DS MvD had a level designer, but I kept playing through the single player even though there were other fan made levels.

YoshiRider123 wrote: All of the DS Mario vs. Donkey Kong games (March of the Minis, Minis March Again!, and Mini-Land Mayhem) have that, actually.

KingMario128 wrote:Well well well...im in other forums, in this one ALL already calls Mario a DEAD franquise because the both NEWs look OLD, they re so pessimistic and think ubisoft do BETTER platforms games because Rayman Origins and Legends.
This forum i see is more positive that the other one, and understand the diferent styles of the games (Rayman and NEW) and why NSMB2 can be better that we expect![]()

Maybe the rumored Super Mario Bros. 4 will realize my dream (still confused on that title though...pretty sure that was Super Mario World)...

CM30 wrote:Nah, there isn't that much wrong with the graphics style in New Super Mario Bros. So what if it isn't all fancy? The older NES and SNES titles weren't compared to others of their generation. Donkey Kong Country Returns looks fantastic, but it had to in order to live up to the SNES original series. Besides, a more complex graphics style might end up causing the gameplay to be less precise, not a good thing in a platformer.

Not to mention you can do pretty awesome stuff just by remixing some of the above and orchestrating it:
I think the complaints about the music are kind of overblown, especially considering they often end up about an annoying sound in only a few of the game's theme tunes.
Although about the 'all games looked different' thing... Yeah, in Japan at one time there were four games out in succession which all basically looked like Super Mario Bros 1 one. Super Mario Bros the Lost Levels, All Night Nippon Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros Special and Vs Mario Bros.
Exhibit A:

At least New Super Mario Bros had some new stuff, the most some of the above had were now flying enemies and poison mushrooms or the characters replaced by Japanese pop stars.

MoldyClay wrote:So from what I am hearing from the leaks/spoilers of this game, it sounds pretty disappointing.
Final boss, the bosses in general (other than bringing back Reznor), the reward for 1 million coins, copypasta music, the amount of levels. People beat the main worlds in like 3 hours and people completed all the worlds on Day 1. Really disappointed.
I mean, I still want it, but ugh. They really started pumping me up by acting like this was a huge game and crazier than before. The coin gimmick is cool, but not enough to really make up for all of that unless there's more that people haven't found.CM30 wrote:I personally think the music is generally okay. I mention the wah-wah, but I didn't mean I just hate the music because of that. The music is catchy and sticks in your head (granted, I can only think of the main music right now), but it's really bland and bad compared to literally almost every other game in the Mario franchise. There are some good songs, but overall the music is just "blah" and the wah-wah thing just makes it more obvious with those songs. The 'instrument' sounds used for the songs is also pretty bad in comparison.
To make matters worse, NSMB2 doesn't even have much new music from what I am understanding. Pretty much just reusing music from NSMBW. And that's going by WiiFolder/BitBlock.
As for your example of NES Marios with the same style, that's not even a fair comparison, with the exception of Lost Levels, since that is legitimately SMB2.
- Super Mario Bros. Special was a Hudson Soft made game for PC-88 and I would hardly call it a real sequel.
- Vs. Super Mario Bros. was an arcade port/remake of the Original SMB (and some Lost Levels) with multiplayer, not a new game.
- All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros. was a hack of SMB/SMB2 and not really a new game either.
So of the 4 you mention, only 1 was an actual new Mario title, 2 were rearranged versions of the original games and one was an outsourced pseudo-sequel. That's not exactly the same as 4 entirely separate non-port/remake games looking mostly the same.

I don't understand what time in Japan has to do with this.
If you mean the comment about beating it in 3 hours, no. People beat the game with a total time of 3 hours or so. They said they did and talked about the spoilers of doing so.
Now, that doesn't mean they had all the Star Coins or a million coins in 3 hours, but people beat it within that time frame.
I'm not really sure what you were referring to if not that, though.

kingofe3 wrote:Sorry, I don't mean that. I meant that it's impossible to reach 1 million coins in such a short period of time even if you play Coin Rush mode for that long. Could be someone got an early copy and stayed up all night and day to reach it, but as of now it's still basically a rumor until photo evidence or footage comes up.
Also, there are stars on profiles just like in Super Mario 3D Land which if you get all 5 stars on your profile you unlock something. I don't know if it's the same way in this game, but it interests the thought.

Well, I was never saying people got a million coins that fast, BUT SURPRISE, seems they just started getting a million coins (meaning it took 3-4 Japantime Days). So reward confirmed. And it's terrible. And not a reward and wasn't worth Nintendo hyping.
Granted, yes. There's a lot of other things to do, but you'll be doing those naturally while trying to get the coins anyway. Most people, following that criteria, probably had most if not all of the Stars on the save within the first day or two.
As for why people *knew* the reward, it was NEVER a rumor. The official Japanese website says *right* on it what the reward for 1 million coins was (although it makes it sound more ambiguous, as if it could do something, which it apparently does not) and has said it for well over a month. I'm not sure why it was never reported in gaming news. Had nothing to do with people having reached it already, though. They just knew what the site said. Long before the game came out.
