PS3 has traveled back in time to resurrect itself

PSN is currently down at the moment, and apparently the PS3 is having similar problems to what Zunes had about a year or two ago when it came to Leap Year. Instead of your PS3 being able to fire up, the date refers to December 31, 1999 and will not connect to PSN.

There is currently no fix for this problem, but it is advised to just stay off your PS3 until this issue is resolved because...

#1 - You will lose your trophy progress of any game that has a Trophy list
#2 - Might cause irritation, rash or skin disorder
#3 - It is unknown how far this issue goes

Crazy. I'm glad you told me not to turn it on. I saw the "headlines" but never clicked on it to read, because I thought it was simply PSN being down.

I'm getting error 8001050F as of today.. I've been looking around the web for answers and it looks like it's happening to a loooot of people too.

When I try to play a game It basically says that it can't load my trophy data and that I have to quit the game a reload it, but everytime I do it displays the same message.

Oh, jeez. It's like Y2K all over again except my parents aren't stocking up on nonperishable food items and something is actually happening.

This seems pretty widespread now.
I'm hoping that my PS3 hasn't been on tonight will help me not be affected by this.

A lot of people are saying trophies are gone...not that I care about them anyway, I'm a whopping level 2!

But if you care about your trophies, I would leave the PS3 off until this is all cleared up...heck, maybe even unplug the thing?

i have been reading that the new slim models are not affected by this, and sure enough when i turned on my machine tonight to watch that godawful film, 2012, i was able to access psn just fine.

My buddy and I went out and bought a couple of games yesterday. I got home and Started playing(downloading the update for) Heavy Rain he called me and asked if my PSN was working. I have a slim PS3 so my PSN was working. He spent the next hour trying to figure out what was wrong. I will pass the bad new on to him.

PS3 slims are fine

It's apparently an internal clock issue.

I have not seen an official Sony confirmation and have yet to test my PS3 again, but some people in other forums are claiming that their PS3s are back online.
