i think it'd be a fantastic addition... having not just one gaming innovation, but in fact TWO; what an unbeatable combo!

however, i think realistically this technology is a bit too forward-thinking in the sense that even "normal" 2D projectors are still awfully expensive; the DLP infocus projector my roommate has even after a year sells for a thousand bucks... hardly the affordable price point nintendo is shooting for. and considering the depthq website doesn't list a price anywhere, i can only imagine how expensive IT is, even if 'only a fraction of the cost of other 3d single-lens projectors.'

in the back of my mind, this is the secret i figured nintendo might spring on us, but considering their hesitance to embrace HD, my logic circuit kicks in and points out that they definitely wouldn't leapfrog HD for an even MORE expensive and less ubiquitous technology like 3d projection/display. good idea though!

Well, it could be that Nintendo will make the games compatible with 3d projection. Maybe in an effort to be ready to go when the tech does become affordable.

no no no no no. This is exactly something the gaming public isn't ready for yet. Revolution is perfectly time for what it is bringing to the industry, this would just be overkill and would scare away those people who might be brought in by the revs friendly remote.

reading the description of the goggles, it makes me wonder if you have to have both the goggles AND the projector, sort of like watching a 3d movie?

edimensional.com wrote:Customers interested in purchasing the Infocus DepthQ stereo projector in addition to this package can contact our sales department for bundle pricing.

why else would you be interested in buying both? i was actually really excited by the price of the glasses until i read that last bit :-\

Just a reminder about this little article...

http://gonintendo.com/?p=144

I'm not convinced it's going to be the big bombshell that they're keeping to themselves. Plus as other people have said, I think it's a bit too forward thinking for the general public.
