I don't think we will. When PS4/720 come out, they'll already be behind behind PC's by quite a bit. If developers and publishers want costs to come down, they'll have to limit themselves to what resolution they create those assets in. They'll also have to make games more efficiently, because the stories I've heard about some development cycles have been ridiculous.

The rumor of probably being an Radeon Embedded E6760 GPU is from a nintendo blog called nintengen.

A gap just like playstation2/gamecube? I don't expect so... the new engines are coming obviously more powerful and costing less, one of they prior objectives is to reduce the cost of production of games. I think the Wii U will receive a lot of downgraded ports of games from DurangOrbis (when willl have, because I think that a lot of devs will not bring them because of sales and stuff).

And I didn't even start to talk about the consoles they have in mind when they create or gonna create their respectives engines...

I don't wanna be undesirable, but I think that some nintendo fans should get ou from the dreamland.

EDIT: Oh sorry, you said gamecube/xbox. But anyway, I still think the leap will be more and noticeable

In my opinion, the power gap between the Wii U & the PlayStation 4/XBOX 720 will not be as big as the power gap between the Wii & the PlayStation 3/XBOX 360. But then again, who knows?

In fact, I expect Durango to be 4-5times more powerful than the Wii U.
3 basis steps to improves nintendo´s activities:

- Iwata should be take off from the presidency;
- Reggie should be put in some place out of NOA's presidency;
-Miyamoto should take a slap of sense to start caring again for the hardcore gamers.

sorry, I didn't mean in power, I meant in arch. the more the hardware is basically PC components the less you will have to learn voodoo tricks to get things to work, the quicker you get can get your games out.

Every developer knows powerpc and x86 nowadays, and it's basically knowing whichever middleware sdk being used. the more things are standardized the better dev times will get.

I think that will help, but the money for development will still be mismanaged, go towards staff that shouldn't be working on a game, or be spent in marketing. Everyone's still going for the "OMGBIGHITBBQFTW!" game, when in reality a few middle of the road A games at cheaper costs to the consumer will sell just as much over the long run.

totally agree, and I am of the firm belief that price flexiblity will open up the space for the A or AA retail game. as well as the digital space.

Well I don't know why those type of games haven't happened this generation. Last generation had a bunch of them late in the lifecycle (on PS2). I guess it's developers still trying to play long ball instead of small ball.

I highly doubt Gamestop starts pre-orders on Monday. Especially before The Last Story, 3DS XL and New Super Mario Bros. 2 hitting shelves.

I got a report from somewhere else that the price tag in the Gamestop system was $249.99. Don't know if it's BS or not.

Gamestop has no listing in their computer system for the Wii U yet. Whoever told you this, was either feeding you bs, or has access to something higher up then the store side of things.

Something to consider, Gamestop kinda takes preorders on stuff whenever they feel like, for the most part (there are exceptions). The company has been accepting pre orders on the games for a while now, but has yet to start taking pre orders on the Wii U. The August 13th date, to my understanding, is just a date that Gamestop was supposed to wait to put up their marketing for the Wii U. This could mean several things. A couple reasonings could be as follows:

1) It could mean that by August 13th Gamestop knew that all stores would have received marketing for the Wii U, and planned taking pre orders then on their own.

2) It could mean that Gamestop has been working with Nintendo concerning the Wii U, and that Gamestop knows something we don't. There could be an announcement coming on August 13th from Nintendo.

3) Nintendo could just have a marketing agreement with Gamestop for them start marketing on the 13th to spread appeal for the console. This may or may not mean that reserves will be taken immediately.

4) It just means that Gamestop's marketing is changing which involves putting up a display for the Wii U so that customers will ask their employees about it, and said employees would educate them on the matter. This may or may not mean that reserves will be taken on the 13th.

Quick question, do I need an HDMI cable to see games in HD or Wii's component cables would work too? I mean the one with 5 connectors (I know the WiiU is compatible with those).

I was wondering the same thing a few days ago. My TV is an older one from earlier 2000s so it doesn't have an HDMI input, I use a componet cable for my Wii/PS360.
I don't think Nintendo has said anything yet. From the looks of this picture ( http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sM-BZwI3Vwg/T ... output.jpg ) the Wii U will use the same output as the Wii, and Nintendo's website says it is compatable with the Wii componet cables so I would think that it *should be able to output in HD with them atleast 420p but I'm hoping that it will be able to do 1080p too.

"Video Output
Supports 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i. Compatible cables include HDMI, Wii D-Terminal, Wii Component Video, Wii RGB, Wii S-Video Stereo AV and Wii AV."

Edit: "I know the WiiU is compatible with those" sorry for the anwser-less response, I didn't notice that. Anyway I posted a response since I was wondering the same thing

Anyone know know if the Wii U Gamepad Stylus is like the DS Lite stlus, or the 3ds stylus? I looked at some pictures, but I couldn't tell for sure.

It's like a DSi XL stylus that sits at the top right of the controller.

Also, with my Wii U I will be getting...

Wii U Console (Black)
Wii U Gamepad Pro (White)
Assassin's Creed III
Project P-100
New Super Mario Bros. U
Rayman Legends
Pikmin 3

Wow...I didn't think I'd say I'd get 5 games at Wii U's launch. WTH...

Some of you guys have unrealistic expectations about the specs. Unfortunately, I was asked not to talk about it on neogaf or another forum, but there is something really disturbing about the ammount of ram. We will see if it will be a problem in the future.

As for the games, I will buy these (if I have the money):
-ZombiU
-Pikmin 3
-New Super Mario Bros U
-Rayman Legends
-P-100
-Assassins Creed 3
-Darksiders 2
-Tekken Tag Tournament 2
-Trine 2: Director's Cut

Not sure yet about Fifa, Mass Effect and Ninja Gaiden 3. I will also buy Aliens next year.

The PS3's bonus content of AC games have always been lackluster and not worth playing.

Amen. Stupid Steam gave me such a backlog I've yet to beat the first Assassin's Creed for the same reason.

The only console that has a lot of sales is PSN. XBL has pathetically bad sales, while Wii had that one Sonic sale. 3DS has had a couple of sales, but they're too short.
