$249,99 for the system + Game pad? If that price is correct, then the GPU really must be from 2008/2009.

:?

I believe the issue is the CPU, not the GPU.

Well... judging by what the Sonic Racing developer said... but I dunno how they managed to put a price like this with that expensive controller. Why you're worried about the CPU? IBM confirmed it is a Power 7...
3 basis steps to improves nintendo´s activities:

- Iwata should be take off from the presidency;
- Reggie should be put in some place out of NOA's presidency;
-Miyamoto should take a slap of sense to start caring again for the hardcore gamers.

Less powerful than the CPU of either the PS3 or 360. As reported by almost everyone. Whether that means its' underclocked or not...remains to be seen.

And as for Wii U Daily, I have one thing to say: LOL

I wouldn't say less powerful, per se, it's like, a i7 running at 200mhz is more powerful than a P2 running at the same speed. But I think it is underclocked to save power/heat. this is probably the stumbling block that certain devs ran into when running 360 code, they were using the cpu too much expecting a certain speed,(it's a port, makes sense to do) and the GPU not enough.

After reading the explanation... Nothing to be proud of :|

But this is interesting:

Li Mu Bai from Beyond3D wrote:The initial 720p "native" resolution for all current 1st party software was secured to provide very stable & predictable performance in conjunction with heavy utilization of the DRC. (display remote controller) No matter how simplistic or complex the game may be...

The first two visual showcases from Nintendo's internal studios will be Retro & Monolith Soft's titles. Both running on proprietary engines that will demonstrate the Wii U's technical presentation properly. There are still a few announcements left regarding japanese exclusive & multi-platform software, though nothing really exploiting the hardware. (from what I've heard)

Li Mu Bai from Beyond3D wrote:This takes more time, publishers want to simply get the software up & running optimally as quickly as possible. Taking advantage of the architecture of a new system takes time. Batman:AC is definitely taking some advantage of the additional ram, GPU functionality, OoOe, as well as using the DRC creatively rather than simply as a submenu. V-sync is enabled, texture resolution is increased, post-process anti-aliasing, (not present in the PS3/360 versions) as well as additional art assets & geometry have been included in certain scenes. The 3rd party title that will demonstrate the differences most noticeably will be Gearbox's Aliens:CM, but that is a Q1 2013 release. The Wii U's version of Metro:LL is still officially on development hold, though this was showing early potential as well.

Anyone want to translate?

translation "Better hope the GPU can carry the day because this cpu is a fucking joke". it's clownshoes, tbh. I think we are going to see wii 2.0 with the multiplatform releases again.

They did exactly what I expected them to do, sacrifice muscle for power use and heat.

I can't say I trust the person when he mentions Retro's and Monolith's games being technical showcases. Makes it sound like he's talking out of his ass. Then again, he's saying Retro's doing something new and I highly doubt that considering what potentially has been said about them as of late.

Just to be clear, I'm going out on the tiniest limb ever and say that I think Retro's developing Mario Kart 8.

It's just a guess. I really doubt they're working on a new IP, because at the end of the day, they're not Nintendo

Kind of a Tangent but I still find it funny everyone calls Retro the new Rare. That's not the case at all. With Rare Nintendo basically just chucked money at them saying "Make whatever you want" Where as with Retro Nintendo has to approve everything the make and watch them do it.

I still say Retro is working on StarFox. After the crap shoot that is MK7 I think I'm done with MarioKart for a year or 2.

Once a generation nowadays, usually.

GC - Pikmin
DS - Brain Age
Wii - Wii ____
3DS - Steel Diver

Also, I'm guessing Nintendo's achievement system will be at the OS level, with notifications and whatnot like 360. But I'm going to guess Nintendo games don't have them so Nintendo fans become achievement junkies and buy 3rd party games.

Actually, Gamecube also got Chibi Robo, Eternal Darkness, and Baten Kaitos (does that count?). DS also got some new IPs like Nintendogs, Hotel Dusk, Trace Memory, Elektroplankton, Elite Beat Agents, Fossil Fighter, and lots of app-style games.

Wii had a few new IPs too, like FlingSmash, Xenoblade, Disaster, Captain Rainbow...

And of course download services have gotten things like Fluidity, Spotto!, A Kappa's Trail, Dillon's Rolling Western, Sakura Samurai, Pushmo...

I guess there have been more than I actually thought. It just doesn't come across because they don't really push any of them and they never get the same recognition as their old IPs. A lot of them come and go because not enough people get them. Feels bad, man.

So New Super Mario Bros. U got the cover for GameInformer. GameInformer has a month of WiiU coming with exclusive coverage. I'm assuming this is the deal made out with GameStop. To bad GameIformers video is horrible guess I'll just have to sub to them on YouTube and watch there.

Soma Bringer, Line Attack Heroes, Reginleiv, Takt of Magic, GiftPiA and N-Genration games (Picross, Brain-Age, etc.) just to add a few more. Unsure if one can technically consider WarioWare "new IP" in the GCN era though, I just left it out.

But speaking of which; Has anyone seen an art image of Welt and Idea (From Soma Bringer) larger than 600 pixels tall? Been trying to find it for years to finish a PS project of old, scrapped it ages ago till I just found one art for another game for it.

Well, technically, Nintendo had Mario's Picross already, so their 'picross' series existed already.

And WarioWare started on GBA, so I didn't count that either, since I was just using the consoles/handhelds that KingBroly mentioned. GBA birthed stuff like Rhythm Heaven, Starfy, Golden Sun, and so on. I also avoided mentioning new things from existing series. Like, Luigi's Mansion was a 'new IP', but it's also part of the Mario series, technically.

N64 started a lot of new stuff as well. Custom Robo, Animal Crossing... And I know Doshin the Giant started there, but I can't remember if it came out on it or was pushed to Gamecube only.

Starfy started on the GBC. Japan exclusive.

As for Nintendoland, the information so far is neat, but I will only get excited for this if it is a packaged in game and/or it has online multiplayer (which I highly doubt it will have).

NSMBU is definitely looking like it will be the best in the NSMB series, but that's not saying much. Definitely is a major step in the right direction, though.

same, if they think they are going to get away with nintendoland as a 60$ game and have it do what wiisports did, they have another thing coming.

They need to pack it in. as a free download. drive traffic to the store. leverage people's desire for free shovel. Sales to keep it going, I mean, why do you open steam every day or two?

So Boost Rush mode in NSMBU sounds like a blast! I love speed running!

Basically it's Coin Rush but with time as your objective. The screen auto scrolls for every level and forces you to move faster/slower. I'm assuming that this is where NSMBU will get all it's DLC>
