The Wii U can't handle, in a v4 dev kit / third party ports & games using inhouse engines context, 1 720p current gen content + 2 480p current gen content. It's managing correctly (with a good enough framerate, but i'm talking 25/30 fps here, not 60) 1 720p current gen content+++(again, i've explained what kind of +++ you can expect thanks to the more powerful capacities/more modern architecture) and 1 480p "current gen" content (i use marks because obviously, it's in 480p, but it's still intricate, not just an inventory, it's a real different view of the main scene). It's reassuring in my opinion, because these already solid performances were before the slight improvements coming with the V5 dev kit, 2 revisions before the actual SDK, more optimizations of their own engines, and tons of other parameters that can only get better.
IdeaMan (NeoGAF) wrote:I haven't confirmed that though. But hardware capabilities wise, the Wii U has the guts to render 4 content, it's just a matter of playing with the resolutions, what the TV shows, etc.
But certainly not 1 720p current gen pretty content + 4 480 intricate (3D scenes) content, and apparently not, in the context that i've so much stressed about, 1 current gen+++ game in 720p + 2 480p current gen other views of it. Even if the rumors of 2 padlets support happen to be true, let's say you play a third-party title on Wii U, if this game feature a cooperative mode, the system won't have the capacities (again in this environment) to render a 720p beautiful game + 2 other views for additional players, it will be 1 pretty 720p content + 1 480p.
Maybe with the final dev kits, with first-parties games, etc, the system will be capable of that.

I don't recall them ever saying that NSMBM wasn't an actual thing. They only said that it wasn't representative of the final product. Though, I suppose, memory could be off a little bit. I definitely heard it somewhere. (possibly from a Nintendo rep that discussed the game with an interviewer as they played it)

The reps on the floor at E3 were pretty clear that it was just a tech demo cobbled together to show some possibilities for the controller. In fact, nothing they showed on the floor was a real game, all just tech demos showing off various aspects of the tablet functions.
Or specifically in the Zelda demo's case, graphical capabilities.

Nothing mayor, but it CONFIRMS that an AUDIO SOFTWARE after being optimized got a 4x improvement over the original wiiu build and now has a similar (or better) performance compared to an xbox. Basicaly on par with the current gen now. This proves that an unoptimized software will not run any better than current consoles, thats why we keep seeing anonymous reports that some stuff run worse. Also, the WiiU is supposed to have an audio cpu, so this could all be happening there with no resources drain.
There is also a links list with some middleware software compatible with wiiu

One of the documents suggests that it is handled the same way the wii does, with a usb adapter
