Rumor time: Between Geno, Isaac, and Megaman, two of them could be in the game

http://nsider2.com/forums/index.php?sho ... 96270&st=0

Altough, its a bit weird that sakurai would slip something like that :?

Maybe it was too weird to be true?

If true, I'm placing my bets on Isaac (since he's already an assist trophy in Brawl) and Megaman (popular character choice...has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I personally want to see him playable in the next game!).

Hello, Cookie_Aroma from GameFAQS here. I'm surprised nobody else has debunked this Twitter post yet. The person who made up this tweet made one little mistake (actually two as Yani pointed out). Take a look at the screen capture that the person who saw the tweet took:

http://i.imgur.com/oGhal.png

Let's compare that to Sakurai's Twitter page now:

http://i.imgur.com/5sTHX.jpg

Do you see it yet? See the Tweets count in the upper-right-hand corner? It reads "8807 Tweets" for both images. This is the problem. The tweet with the 2 of 3 message should say 8808 tweets if it was actually legitimate. That coupled with the fact that the only witnesses to this tweet were 2 people from the same board (And as Yani pointed out, the tweet says expand instead of view conversation), I'm positive this is a fake.

This kind of thing is actually very easy to photoshop (or gimp in my case). See?

If said obvious fanwank rumour was true, then I'd agree too [though I'd want Amaterasu as a possible Capcom rep, personally].

Like with the rabid Earthbound/Mother fandom, I really have grown tired of seeing requests for Geno, a one-shot character...

So who else here thinks Nintendo Land would make for an amazing stage?

I mean, it practically speaks for itself. Just look at it!

It would be fabulous, agreed. :)

Think Wahu Island [replacing Isle Delfino] and SwapNote [replacing PictoChat] are more likely shoe-ins, though.

I also thought about it and liked the idea, but I didn't post that proposal since I don't know what would be the reactions. But seriously, Nintendo Land for the next Smash Bros., please?

Extremely bothered?............maybe

So what exactly are they helping with? The 3DS version? Or both the Wii"U" and 3DS versions? I need a reason to be worried. o_o

no you're not the only one. :(

but as long as it remains faithful for what smash bros is all about (collaboration of NINTENDO content) then it shouldnt be too bad.

I REALLY hope that they're NOT involved with the gameplay. I have played SoulCalibur V, Tales of the Abyss, and Tales of Vesperia to know that it will most likely involve Marvel vs Capcom 3 spamming... Prove me wrong Namco Bandai.

Well, It's being co-developed by Sora, Nintendo and Namco. I'm not too worried, I think Nintendo and Sora will keep it from being dramatically altered. But, Namco is one of my favorite developers especially for Tales games and fighters. I'm guessing this is mostly a way to speed up development. I'm hoping for a Tales of Symphonia character in the game. I'm thinking we might get Pac-Man now.

Well, it's really a surprise to see Namco helping with the development, last time it was Game Arts mostly, but since I haven't played many Namco games recently, I don't if I should be worried. Still I want to know if this means that we'll get a Mario vs. Snake vs. Sonic vs. Pac-Man.

And I'll just repeat what I said in another topic:
Is it me, or Sakurai seems to be really happy to develop a new Smash Bros.? considering what he said in the past

Just because they are involved doesn't mean they are making the game themselves. Sakurai and his team will still be overseeing everything, I hope, so there is really nothing to be worried about.

Co-developed actually, get it right before posting such vitriol, I'm sick of reading it on every Nintendo related article I happen to browse.

This is why I will not be looking forward to these games now, you know with every fiber in your being that there will be more spamming then there was in Brawl. If not character balancing issues that makes Brawl's version of MetaKnight cry.

Ivy from Soul Calibur CONFIRMED. lol

But yes, I was caught off guard when I read this a few minutes ago. Almost did a double-take. I'll reserve judgement till we actually see some footage of the game...but as long as Sakurai and his team at Sora are overseeing things, I'm pretty confident it'll turn out all right.

Here's hoping!

As for this news...don't quite see the problem other than Soul Calibur's art designers. It seems like they picked a lot of smart people to do this. Plus, Namco has some of the best online play in fighting games today. I can't help but imagine that this will transfer over to Smash Bros. Not to mention the Gundam Vs guy is all about competitive balance in his games. Really, really good choices behind this.

Paying any credence to what Emily Rogers has to say, quite frankly, is at least a bit bafoonish. Just saying. (She STILL hasn't bothered replying to any questions levied at her about just what her "qualifications" are to make her "news" legit, and I doubt she ever will).

Having said that, I can't say I'm all that happy about Namco being involved at all with this. They already destroyed what could have been a perfectly good Star Fox game for me years ago. They've totally shat on what used to be great about Soul Caliber and Tekken. They really haven't produced what I'd personally call a good game, outside of the "Generations" for download, in years. Hopefully Sakurai and his own team keep them in check, and he maintains tight creative control of the project, and doesn't give them "creative license" to start adding their own "Cute" little changes to Smash Bros. No thank you sir.

I trust Sakurai. But honestly I wish Nintendo would quit working as much with third party developers on their OWN franchises.

Posting my qualifications wouldn't really change anything. And obviously, I can't give out my sources.

As far as your worries about Smash Bros, Iwata has spoken on multiple occasions about projects needing large teams of staff, and he's spoken many times about collaborating with third parties This is why we're seeing games like Next Level Games handling Punchout Wii/Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, Tecmo doing Metroid Other M, Monster Games doing Pilotwings Resort/Excitetruck, etc, etc. And now Namco doing Smash Bros.

I expect Nintendo farming out their franchises to studios outside of Nintendo to become more and more prominent in the near future.

Doing this helps build good relationships between Nintendo and other studios/third parties. And it helps relieve Nintendo's teams from massive projects.
