Can Someone explain to me the theory of Ocarina being the first (so far) game?

They could have Link do a Captain America shield throw and or add some boomerang elements to it. They should bring back the mirror shield and incorporate spots on the floor (due to clouds, cieling cracks, treetops, etc...) where the sun shines brightest and enable link to temporarily blind enemies, burn off fake tree/cave/stump/mountain walls, and other stuff you could think of that I'm not right now.

@Grumble Grumble
It's thought to be the first because the game establishes important elements in the series such as ganon and the triforce. Hopefully someone can fully elaborate my answer and truly answer your question.
Here's a link (pun not intended) about Aounoma's belief of LOZ's timeline.

Oh yeah. I had forgot the shield could also take on some utility purposes too. Like that Magnet Shield idea? That shield could be used to pull Rupees and other small metallic objects to you for example.

Saw a trailer, kinda disappointed that it looks like a cross between Wind Waker And TP. Should have stuck with TP art, it just look so much better. Prolly only get it cuz it's a LoZ title.

haha so true.

But I hope they keep the plot in the same direction Twilight Princess was heading, which is dark, moody, but emotional. I personally thought Midna was one of the most developed character in the series.

More developed character would make me a happy panda.

Doesn't have to even be moody, I just hope they work on giving the game more personality. Not that Nintendo ever have much trouble with that, but Okami definitely out-shone Twilight Princess in that department. Whether it be darker, lighter, funnier, whatever I hope the developers throw as much eccentricity and quirkiness they can at the game. But by the looks of things, I'd say there's a good chance they are.

So I'm sure most, if not all, of you heard about Miyamato's comment on SS's current development stage as "50% complete". I wanna' ask what you guys think about that statement. I've heard on other forums (GS, IGN, etc.) people saying they think SS is going to be delayed past its "early 2011" release window, while others saying it could just be a means to be vague, and SS could actually be getting close to completion in development. What do you all think about this? Are people overreacting to his comment, or is there a good chance we won't be seeing this game in early '11?

I think that interview was done at E3, so it's old news.

Agreed. There are indications that this isn't a recent interview. For instance:
For the briefest of moments, Miyamoto looks like Pocket-lint has stolen a prized biscuit from his private cookie jar, since no announcement of Mario Kart in 3D has been made.

When it was announced at E3.

Personally I'm still thinking of a February release, if only because I'm obsessed and really, really want it soon :D.

Doubt it. If for no other reason that they're getting ready to roll the 3DS out, and I don't think they'd want Zelda to get less attention.

I know one thing it's not being released in February as Mario Sports Mix is being released in that month. Usually Nintendo doesn't release two first party titles on the same system in the same month unless it's near the holidays. March is the month the 3DS and Pokemon Black/White are launching so that's doubtful too. It could be May like SMG2. All I can do is hope.

Anyway wow Nintendo fans are bias. Everybody was begging and asking for the 3DS during the just passed holiday. When I kept saying it would interfere with DKCR, Kirby, and Metroid sales everybody laughed at me and said no it won't. Then 3DS is slated for March with SS slated for "Early 2011" now everybody is worried SS will lose sales? So it's okay For DK and Kirby too lose sales but not Zelda?

3ds is not effecting my 3ds purchase, I'm still getting both, even if they came out on the same day.
And it doesn't matter when you buy it it's not like Nintendo does price drops. buy Zelda a year after the game comes out I doubt Nintendo will care.

You have to remember that the 3DS and Zelda are both extremely popular Nintendo products whose fanbases are essentially identical. And as a recent GN news story (the name of which i'm forgetting) covered, in this economy i think people are more likely to side with a new, 50$ Zelda installment than a 300$ hardware modification (the purchase of which will inevitably demand the purchase of more games).
In short, i don't think the release of 3DS and SS, if they do coincide, will really effect the sales for either.

Yeah, I had my suspicions about that, too, since there were indications, like the one Skooter posted, of it being an old interview. That compells me to ask the question, though: if the interview is so old, why was it posted so recently? It was posted on the 21st, but I don't understand why, if it's so old. Wasn't Pocket-Lint aware that releasing such an article would cause unnecessary confusion amongst readers?

Really miyamoto saying over half completed doesn't mean anything as in newer interviews he said it was "almost done" if this interview really took place at e3 i except a japanese release in late april early may and us will likely get it in late summer early fall(unless the translation team actually tries to go faster then maybe early to mid summer)

I'm feeling Nintendo will push Zelda to sometime May or June.

The big first rushes of the 3DS, Mario Sports Mix, and Pokemon B/W will be over and Nintendo will probably push it a's their big AAA game of the summer. Whether or not Zelda will affect 3DS sales, Nintendo seems to have a lot going going for Feburary/March. Releasing a big title like Zelda among all that would cause Too much chaos. I highly doubt they will push it to late 2011.

Hopefully we'll hear more in January.

I remember when I was a kid playing Zelda, finding a new sword was so exciting!! Id have a new shiny blade that totally made me feel like a badass. Especially finding the Master Sword...jeez back then it was the greatest feeling in the world. A link to the past and Ocarina both are great examples of this.

Since then I feel like the magic of finding new swords in Zelda games has slowly deteriorated. By the time Twilight Princess came, getting the legendary blade of evils bane was same-old same-old. Hell, even in Spirit Tracks...
Spoiler:
Anjean gives you the Lokomo Sword out of nowhere. Why couldn't she have given it to us before!? She had it the whole time. Plus aside from aesthetic reasons and the fact that it was "blessed by the spirits therefore it can harm Malludus"...it wasn't anything special. It wasnt even stronger than your recruit sword!

Seeing as how Skyward Sword is focusing on swords this time around (origin story of the master sword, the title, 1:1 sword fighting)...at least I hope it will, I hope some of the magic in obtaining new swords comes back. (speaking of magic, I'm rly pulling for the magic meter to make a comeback...or magic it some form) I hope it's not as simple as Collecting 3 items and then getting the master sword.

To me, the Master Sword has sort Of become less...amazing as it once was. it no longer feels like the sword to rule them all. Idk just thinking aloud here. I'm hoping Nintedno changes this issue I'm attempting to get at.
