Ok so I've finished the main story ~25 Hours.

Definite spoilers below

Spoiler:
Granny = Impa, but only confirmed by the game in the last scenes.

Levias = Wind Fish perhaps?

Girahims character wasn't fleshed out unfortunately and he remains just another generic "I wanna resurrect an evil lord" guy.

Anyone else think Girahims final form looks like a male version of Fi? He considered himself a "weapon" and flashes into the form of Demise's Sword.

On Demises Sword: Triforce symbol?

So there's the usual Goddesses Farore, Nayru and Din. But now there's the Goddess Hylia too.

It was cool actually finding and using the Triforce.

I didn't care for any of the races in this game. Very forgettable in my opinion.

I'll definitely be re-playing this game to do all the side-quests etc, but now it's onto Assassins Creed Revelations, then Super Mario Land 3D, then Skyrim, then a replay of Skyward Sword, then Mass Effect 3 :)

Listening to the special edition soundtrack now. It's good, but I kind of wish they had just given us the Skyward Sword OST. Definitely the best Zelda soundtrack yet.

Ok so I've finished the main story ~25 Hours.

Would you mind answering some general questions, OmicronTurtle? (I'm only about 10 hours in so these will be non-spoiler questions)

- Overall how would you rate the story compared to the other games?

- Was the game's climax cool? Does it have a good last boss battle?

- I'm hearing a length of at least twice what you played from a lot of reviews. Did you do a lot of side-quests?

These last three might be spoilery so I'll take the proper precautions:

Spoiler:
- Does the sky area get any bigger, or is what you're given at the start all there is?

- Do you ever get to fly around at night?

- At the moment the game seems to be in a pattern of "go to areaa round temple, find X number of things to unlock temple, beat temple". Does this pattern continue for the rest of the game?

I am intensely curious to see where this game is going and what it has in store, but at the same time I feel like I want to prolong it as much as possible. Nintendo is literally the only game developer whose games I've felt that way about.

I'll spoiler tag everything just in case.

Spoiler:
- Overall how would you rate the story compared to the other games?
It's a good story, not the best Zelda story though. It's heavily focused on Goddesses and Master Sword, the story doesn't seem to intertwine with the general population. I would consider Ocarina of Time to have a much better story. It actually felt to me like a reboot of the series rather than this game fitting into an overall timeline. There's just really too many contradictions throughout the stories and lore between all Zelda games. For example, this game tells how the master sword was made, but other games say the Sages forged it. The sages are not mentioned at all in Skyward Sword as far as I could tell.

- Was the game's climax cool? Does it have a good last boss battle?
I found the very last boss battle to be quite difficult and satisfying once beaten. The ending cutscenes could have been better in terms of wrapping up the whole thing imo.

- I'm hearing a length of at least twice what you played from a lot of reviews. Did you do a lot of side-quests?
I looked again and it was closer to 30 Hours, but that's pretty much exclusively the main story. I didn't do any side quests or hunt for things to upgrade my items.

- Does the sky area get any bigger, or is what you're given at the start all there is?
Sky doesn't get any bigger, except you go into the big swirling cloud for another small area

- Do you ever get to fly around at night?
Is there night in the game? I never flew at night anywho, but maybe you can

- At the moment the game seems to be in a pattern of "go to areaa round temple, find X number of things to unlock temple, beat temple". Does this pattern continue for the rest of the game?
Yeah, I don't get why people consider this Zelda a change from the traditional formula. It's still pretty much do three dungeons, cutscene, do another three dungeons, cutscene, do three quests, do another dungeon, boss battle, end cutscene.

It's slightly more varied in the sense that later in the game, instead of actual dungeons to get the last set of collectible treasures, they're more like mini-quests.

I know there's supposed to be a timeline, but with the exception of the two DS games I've always treated every Zelda game as a completely separate entity. Frankly I don't really see why Nintendo makes any attempt to link them together in the first place.

Different people will consider different things spoilers.
What I might class has a minor spoiler, someone else might consider a bigger spoiler. I think it's safest to just tag everything in spoiler tags to avoid upsetting anyone. Or maybe start an anything-goes-spoilerific thread?

or how about people who don't want anything spoiled GTFO of the internet until they can play it for themselves?

i feel a lengthy End of Day editorial about how spoiler rage and over-sensitivity have escalated to ridiculous levels in the past year or so brewing just under my skin...

An admin doesn't agree with people raging over spoilers, but a mod does.

Ugh oh, which one do I choose!

Going to pick this game up in the morning at Target; like Super Mario 3D Land.

It's not that hard to avoid spoilers. I didn't actively avoid any gaming websites, but other than the first few trailers for the game which I chose to watch, I didn't click or read on anything else Skyward Sword related and had no idea about 95% of the game going into it.

Remember when people freaked out the RMC posted a pic of a certain new Mario Suit for 3D Land? Yeah well the suit is on the games box so if you looked at the box before playing half the game to get to the suit then call Nintendo and give out to them for spoiling it.

People need to chill and stop blaming websites or magazines or podcasts for "spoiling" things.

You have to talk to the Potions lady first at which ever potion you want.

On that note, you just reminded me I had a glitch in the game. I can't remember if you get a free Red Potion or not, but anywho, it wouldn't go away no matter how often I used it. I got it with the first bottle and had it right up until the end, constantly using it. It was annoying at one stage cos I wanted to carry something else in the bottle but couldn't empty the damn thing :P

Got the Limited Edition Friday, haven't put it down since. This is one truly amazing game. For some reason, it's reminding me alot of Wind Waker, what with the travelling on the bird instead of a boat and the art style too. Anyway great great game!

Great game so far.

Couple complaints (no spoilers):

- Forcing you to watch a terrible Wii MotionPlus "how to" video before you can even play the game. Wow. Just wow.
- Some of the loading is a bit awkward. I wish I could fly and explore the town without a loading fade between each, which often leads me to lose sense of where I am or drops me off someplace entirely different from where I 'landed'.

Really, really love the cutscenes and colors/art direction. And already a bunch of interesting characters and I'm not even at the first 'temple' yet.

EDIT: @Penguin_Factory: Well, it is the first time I've used MP+ on my Wii. So maybe in that case the video is unskippable. Still pretty disappointing, I already had it hooked in and this video is playing telling me how to hook it up and I can't skip. Wasted a few minutes, anyway.

I'm only two hours in, but I'm really enjoying myself. I'm still getting used to it, but there isn't anything about the controls that feels broken. The game is definitely slow to start, but the learning curve kinda makes it necessary.

@Burgers
It's my first time using the WM+ controller, but I didn't have to watch a tutorial. There is an option to watch a tutorial on the title screen but I just went straight into the game.

I might sound like a complete idiot here but I just found out that if you pick up a bomb from the ground then tap the B button you'll keep the bomb in your bomb bag (unless your bomb bag is full). Is this a new feature or have I been dumb enough to have missed this for a whole decade

WM+ tutorial video is mandatory if you've never played a WM+ game before. Just like with Wii Sports Resort.

This game has so many cool little details.
Spoiler:
- Link's Mail Bag from Wind Waker in his closet
- Link's face on Grooch's punching bag
- etc.

Also, holy hell at the facial animations. Just...wow. Take that LA Noire, and your 7 years of slavery to make it, Nintendo outdid you in less than half the time and on inferior hardware! And this game is actually good!

Standing outside the first temple now, not wanting to rush anything. This game is very much like Wind Waker, from the art style, the tech & the over-world structure. I might be saying that just because I finally played Wind Waker a couple weeks ago, but it very much feels like Wind Waker chapter two (with a splash of TP), & that is a very good thing!

So far I hate this game... I reached the first dungeon and stopped, but thus far not liking any of this. And on top of that Its got the unfortunate situation of being compared to the last game I played Batman Arkham City. Which thus far blows this game out of the water in every way, shape, and form.

I really hope the game picks up. I really was looking forward to this. My second most wanted game this year but its not looking good. On the plus side, a friend of mine might find himself with a free copy.
