I love love love Majora's Mask.. so moody. It's a game where I actually cared for the characters and their fates. The tension is something I still relish.

As for Skyward Sword, I'm only about 12 hours into it, but I can tell that this is the beginning of a long love affair. It's grabbed me in the same way that Wind Waker and Majora did. The next 11 hours at work before my weekend finally begins are going to go by so slooooooowly.. agony..

I loved Majoras Mask also. In fact it's my favorite of the 3D Zelda games. Not saying that to sound cool or whatever (i'm not even sure why it would be "cool" to like something less popular it would seem the other way around to me) , I just enjoy playing it the most of all of them. It's just different while still being similar, and I love the atmosphere and characters and story (well, pretty much everything about it). The Goron Mask might be my favorite item in any Zelda ever, I love rolling around at high speeds. Zelda 2 is ok, but my least favorite (not counting cdi games) it's just too hard, and not nearly as fun as other Zelda games.

I'm about 10 hours into Skyward Sword now. I absolutely love it so far. I keep hearing it doesn't really get good until about the third dungeon, if that's true it could end up being my favorite 3d Zelda. I've loved it since the minute I started playing it.

I haven't had any issues with the controls. I had to recenter once right after I got the slingshot but after that I realized how it works and haven't had to any more at all. As long as you point where you want to be center when you push the button to use an item that you point or to look around it is perfect every time, I guess the people who reviewed it and complained about recentering constantly pushed the button for their items while pointing the controller elsewhere. Still I don't see why they didn't just use IR for pointing, but it still works great anyway. The sword fighting is excellent. I have not once had it not respond or not swing exactly how I wanted it to, I have absolutely no idea what that Gamespot guy was talking about on this unless he was just wiggling the controller randomly and hoping it would read his mind and do what he wanted it to.

I was a little worried about the stamina meter when I first heard about it, but I have no problem with that either. I was kinda under the impression that just fighting with your sword regularly would deplete your stamina. I love that you can dash now and jump up ladders and stuff.

Oh, and the art style is definitely my favorite of any Zelda so far.

Twilight Princess is more popular among people who have only played a few games in the Zelda series, but among the people who play many of the games Majora's Mask is one of the most popular games, and usually places in the top 3. Ocarina of Time is always popular, of course.

Also, it's very disrespectful and narrow-minded to think that people can't like something you don't, and to assume they must be lying if they claim to. Saying that is childish, and frankly not very original since I've heard of a LOT of people say things like that just to try to put down Majora's Mask and it's fans. There may be a few people who are just trying to be edgy and different, but considering how popular Majora's Mask has become, I'm sure they'll soon move on to a less popular game. And most of us will still stand by our favorite game, because it's actually our favorite :I

And to be on topic: Skyward Sword is amazing, I beat it in 6 days because I couldn't put it down. I loved all the references to other Zelda games in it <3

I really like Skyward Sword.

I think the slow opening really lets me get used to the world, although I think it's a bit sword heavy early on. I like the music, the story, the characters, etc. I think graphics are beautiful except for certain situations where they are terrible. There's only one boss I hate. I think the whole engine behind the game is antiquated though. Really ancient even. That's what I think is holding it back and why I think Zelda needs a new game engine. The Wind Waker engine was an updated version of the Ocarina of Time engine, which was just a hacked-to-death version of Super Mario 64. So yeah, Zelda, you need a facelit.

Eh, I have been meaning to do a user review for a while. Might as well do it for MM.

Ooh, looking forward to it. ^^ What I'm mostly interested in is not the story or atmosphere, but what you think is so special about the gameplay compared to other Zeldas. You don't seem to like aLttP either, but that game was quite challenging and one of your complaints with SS is that it's too easy. One thing I'm really interested in is your view of the combat... how are the masks any different than the howling stone moves in TP? MM wasn't very hard either, and the masks made it kinda easier...

I'm about five dungeons in, and I LOVE SS. My only complaint is that I wish there was a snow area and more combat moves. The motion controls work like a charm, but some variety like in TP where you could learn moves at the howling stones. They add quite a bit of variety and were pretty cool. :) The stories great as well. Ghirahim is a great character, I'd love for him to be in the next SSB!

Anyway, it seems like most of us agree about SS having a decent soundtrack that puts that orchestration to good use. What are everyone's favorite bits of music? I am rather partial to Ghirahim's demented carnival-esque leitmotif, myself. Also, that theme that plays when you fight bosses 2 and 5.

I just beat SS tonight [after having got it for Christmas]. :)

Thus my thoughts on the endgame:

Spoiler:
The battle melee was coolio [though fell just alil short of the epic 1000 Heartless battle of KH2].

Wow. That duality theme is very sweet [Fi being the Goddesses' Blade, Ghirahim Demises' Blade].

I managed to beat the first phrase easily enough. The second phrase kicked my ass twice over.

... Only then did I think to try and leave [and thus I did, restocked at my fave Fairy Grotto at Inside The Volcano and went back].

Ghirahim then fell like a pussy really. Though reaching that big ass Sword portion for the first time did unnerve me abit.

Third time was the charm though. :)

Demise looks sweet as. Groose continues to be cool. Was not expecting that tranquil sky battleground...!

Demise kicked my ass so many times in his last phrase though [making him the hardest Zelda final boss, for me, in a long while.

Once I realised that back-flipping could avoid his charge and electric discs, then I sailed through and dealt the final blow on the third chance.

The end credits were coolio, seeing abit of the adventure through Zelda's eyes.

And then she and Link stay behind. That was sweet. :P

So the spirit of Demise and Fi [and Ghirahim...?] lay in the Master Sword. I wonder if Ganondorf is just an incarnation of Demises' hatred, or him in mortal form [alia Hylia/Zelda].

In shirt, a great game [but not without several flaws, however].

I beat SS not too long ago and its now my favorite zelda game of all time (others being LttP, TP and WW). I think everything about it is awesome...one thing i didnt like about it (as with all zelda games) is you cant save after beating the final boss, if there was some things that i missed i wouldnt be able to go back to it and i didnt copy my save file and i wanted to do
Spoiler:
hero mode so i had to overwrite it
:( not a big deal because i know i would never go back to it but its still nice to see it sitting there looking awesome

I loved that there was more stuff to spend my rupees on...that was great :P

The two biggest things i loved about skyward sword was the swordplay and art style. i liked the way it looked like a painting. the swordplay is only hard on a really small tv but i was able to beat the last boss on our 73 inch tv (my mom is really picky with noise so i constantly have to move it). overall, skyward sword= awesome

for me, the nicest things about SS were the little things, like being able to pocket bombs from flowers, or the fuses don't light until you let go.

i'm just now finally getting to the first of the silent realms, and frankly, they scare me. missions like this stress me way the F out, and i just don't want to even try. but i don't want to give up on the game when i've come so far, and have so far to go... maybe i can sell my copy and just be content to watching walkthrough videos from this point on.

well the silent realm isn't really that bad after the first one in my opinion plus if you fail a couple times

interesting about that spoiler... i just can't deal with stressful games.. especially stealth missions, timed missions, escort missions, being chased by stuff. i draw the line of stressful things at the fast music when the timer reaches 100 in mario games or tetris pieces start nearing the top :-P

Regarding specific Silent Realms:
Spoiler:
Eh, the only Silent Realm that bothered me was the Farin Woods one for the fact tall trees were everywhere blocking your view of the light columns from the tears when you pick up those light balls on your way. Even beacons you set on the Farin Woods Silent Realm map are obscured by the tall trees.

Though of the four Silent Realms in the game, I like Skyloft's one the most since you can leave the easy tears near the Bazaar alone in case you get caught in Waking Water, the 90 secs. from tears run out, or you get caught by those ghosts with laterns. Then it's just a mad dash to a tear near the Bazaar.

You basically just run the perimeter of Skyloft only stopping at the Bazaar when you need a tear to get active guardians off your back.

It's harder to do this strategy in the other three Silent Realms.

I just beat the game. It's not my favorite Zelda gamee, but it's still an amazing title. I wish I could keep playing it lol. The motion controls worked like a charm. I really don't see how someone could say that they didn't have depth. I would have like some move variety like in Twilight Princess, but I loved it nonetheless. Not really sure how Majora's Mask combat system is any better...

The story was fantastic! The interactions between Zelda and Link were adorable and reminded me of Disney films so hopefully Nintendo will build upon this for future games. Don't take it too far, obviously, but I'd love these kinds of timeless stories in more video games instead of the same old shoot aliens and fight zombies.

The graphics were beautiful. I haven't played a game this engaging and immersive in a long time. I couldn't care less about photo-realism, THIS is what I want from game graphics.

The characters, the music, the gameplay, everything about this game was what I'd expect from Nintendo and Zelda. My only complaint is that it had to finish. :( I'd love a direct sequel like Phantom Hourglass that reveals how civilization on Hyrule started. One of the best games I've ever played, just like most other Zelda games. :D

Has anyone managed to do the boss rush mode on hero mode? good lord its SO DAM HARD. I haven't seen such a hard part of a nintendo game since metroid prime 2's boost ball guardian. The horde battle is annoying and I always lose at least 8 hearts there, demise's second form is ridiculous, especially when he charges a skyward strike, charges towards you and then uses the skyward strike almost immediately after that (you can't dodge his charge and you can't block his skyward strike or its just extremely hard to do so). The second fight with the imprisoned is also suddenly much harder than it was in the actual game itself. He always gets really close to the temple and on some occasions he's even reaches it (I hadn't seen the cutscene for that till I did this)

and it was just really hard in general. It means so much when you get hit just once from any of the other boss fights and a simple screw up will cost you A LOT.

I've reached demise twice now and on both occasions I died on his first attack in his second form. First time he skyward struck me and I didn't know that you can't block that with your shield (i'm using a hylian shield), second time he charged a skyward strike then suddenly charged towards me without using it and I didn't react in time.

Unless you've tried this, you have absolutely no idea how frustrating it is to make it all the way to demise only to get killed on his final form.

@motherbrain: I feel your pain. Boss rush on Hero Mode is murder. So much cursing... <.<

I still haven't figured out how to complete all of the trials. I got to the end and the horde killed me. I still can't beat the horde on Hero Mode in boss rush. :( I did manage to at least get the Hylian Shield. I did that by playing against Demise first. When I did it that way, the horde never appeared when I was playing to get the shield.

I found it interesting that Link can parry. I didn't think Link performed dodges in SS but I saw him doing that when I fought against Demise or Ghirahim. In the first part of the fight with Demise, when I was up close to him and would thrust the nunchuck to raise the shield, I noticed that Link moves to the side to evade an attack.

Anyway, for the second part of the fight against Demise the key is charging up your sword with the bolt of lightning and hitting him with it before he has the chance to charge at you. If you time your sword charges right, even if he starts running at you you can hit him with the lightning sword and stop him from hitting you. It really takes a lot of patience to learn how to time everything right in the battle against Demise. Good luck!

Now if anyone could give me advice for taking on the horde on Hero Mode in Boss Rush I'd appreciate that. :)

I just watched a video on youtube. Apparently you don't need to kill every enemy, you just need to kill the ones that Ghirahim summons when he puts that wall infront of you. So those A-holes with the bows and arrows, just run straight past em, I reckon I lose about 6 hearts to those guys alone.

I tried it a few times before and they would always make me face that like 6th or 7th.
