How much did you spend on the Wii?

Today, responding to a story post, someone questioned my comment about the possibility of spending $10,000 on WiiU software over the next 6 years, which I think is feasible...IF it actually manages to get continued 3rd Party support for it's life.

I have kept 50 of my Wii titles, but I bought so many more. I figure that if I spent, easily, $5000 on Wii software then it'll be easy to buy 100 good WiiU games if we get alot of support. I should mention that I live in Australia, where video games have been priced around the $100 mark since I was in High School...and that was back in 1990! Even in my twenties I remember paying $120 for 'Lylat Wars' (Starfox64) but it did come with a rumble pak so that was kinda fair.

So that brings me to this question... "How much money did you spend on the Wii over the last 6 years?"

I myself only spent about $660 on the Wii.

- I have 12 Virtual Console games.
- I have 4 WiiWare titles.
- I have 43 retail games, I have sold 7 games (I think).

Of the 12 VC games, 3 were Club Nintendo rewards.
Of the 4 WiiWare titles, 1 was a Club Nintendo reward.
Of the 43 retail games, I only bought 18 or 19 of them myself. The rest were gifts for some reason or another. Even then, 3 of them were $20 new, 1 was $10 new, and like 6 were used. 1 was free (and used). So only half were full $50 games.

Of the 7 games I sold, I only paid for one of them (the rest were all gifts, but sold much later). I don't even know if I paid full price for it (I think I split it with someone). Or it was mad cheap. Forget.

I also only paid for half of my Wii, because that, a 2nd remote+nunchuk and Twilight Princess were technically a birthday gift, but it was too expensive for it all as a gift.

I have 3 remotes, 2 nunchuks, a Classic Controller, a Zapper and Wii Speak.

I only bought the Classic Controller. The rest were all gifts or came with things that were gifts. I never bought any Wii Motion Plus add-ons or Remotes, the Wii Remote Plus I own came with Skyward Sword, which was a gift. Only two of my games use it anyway, and both are Single Player (SS and Red Steel 2).

So I didn't spend a whole lot of money on the Wii. Granted, there are games I still want, but doesn't look like it will push past $1,000.

£220 for the system with Twilight Princess. Figure I spent an average of £30 on games and I had another 14, so that's £420. I must have spent at least another £100 on downloads and I recently spent £16 on a classic controller pro.

So that'd put me in the ball park of £756. Seems an awful lot when you condense it all down. I must have spent almost as much on the PS3 by now. Perhaps more.

Thats what happens when you live in a "third world" country where nintendo doesn't have official support (Argentina). And my games were second hand, new XBOX 360 games can be above $500, the math for new games is typically 50 U$S x 2 (shipping) x the exchance (currently its "legally" around 4x1, in real life its 6x1). Lucky I found a "cheap" ($320) new unopened Metroid Prime Trilogy pack before its price skyrocketed in the used market.
BTW prices for normal stuff are much smaller, say, a 2.2L Coke plastic bottle is around $16 or something. With the biggest piracy site in Latin America available at hand, its only my weird self righteousness that has stopped me from hacking the hell out of my Wii and download all the games.

I spent a ton, for sure. I think it'd probably make me ill if I went out and actually tried to figure it out.

Lots of games, lots of accessories (though many of the more expensive ones came in bundles).

I've got several Wii Remotes, several Wii Remote Pluses, a few MotionPluses, several Nunchuks, a Classic Controller, two CC Pros, two Wii Speaks, a Balance Board, a Hori Arcade Stick, two Zappers, two Wii Wheels, a Perfect Shot, the Buck Shotgun...there are lots! I use my ottoman as storage for most of them, but there are just so many!

The games are mostly ones that I've purchased, though some have been gifts, too. Unfortunately, many of them were bought at full price, though thankfully many of those were worth it, such as Donkey Kong Country Returns, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Wii Sports Resort, etc. And Prime Trilogy, as that one's price has gone up significantly!

There are tons of download games, too. Oy. Typically I got Nintendo Points cards as gifts, though, so that lessens that significantly. Most of the Bit Trip games, Cubello, Bonsai Barber, Castlevania, Contra, etc., VC arcade games including Space Harrier and Black Tiger, some Virtual Console NES, SNES, and Genesis games (before I stopped buying those to go after the carts instead as I prefer to use the original hardware), a few Turbo-Grafix games, many, many demos...I found a lot to like on the Wii Shop. I'm just really concerned about how safe those games are when my system doesn't work down the line...I'm hoping they go forward and put an online account system for Wii U so I can protect those games (though it's ridiculous I should have to protect them at all).

So all in all...too much! But I've gotten a lot of use out of this awesome console!

In US, if I were to spend the full $50 on 43 games it'd cost $2,150.

However, I only bought 19 of my 43 games. The others were all bought for me as gifts, so I did not include those prices in my estimate since I don't know how much was spent on those. Most were new though.

All my other games, like the Galaxy games, Punch Out, DKCR, Epic Mickey, Zelda, etc... those were all gifts either for my birthday, Christmas, anniversary with girlfriend or simply my girlfriend getting me them because they were less than $10 (example: MadWorld was $5 new at FiveBelow).
