Wii games at 1080p

Sony have been exploiting the re-releases of their old games by putting out HD Collections...

Would you like to see a disc with say, "Mario Galaxy 1 &2 HD" or "Pikmin 1 & 2 HD" or "Metroid Prime Trilogy HD"?

Or would you like to see a disc of say, I don't know, a Zelda collection with "Wind Waker/Twighlight Princess/Skyward Sword HD"?

So, does anyone opn here think Ninty will go the Sony route at all? And if they do how far back do you think they will go?

I'd love to see "Super Mario 64" given the overhaul treatment a'la "Starfox 64"...more polygons, new textures, new features.

What are everyones thoughts on this?

Yeah I could see a Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 HD disc! I don't think Nintendo would release Metroid Prime Trilogy AGAIN with HD. I could also see Skyward Sword and Wind Waker HD.

I'd love to see HD re-releases. Super Mario Galaxy 1+ 2 would look great, but why stop there? Let's see Super Mario 64, Kirby Air Ride, and Mario Kart Double-Dash + Wii all remade in HD.

I wouldn't mind seeing HD re-releases. It's a good money maker for Nintendo to look into as well. As long as they add something new and upgrade the graphics a bit (depending on which games), besides adding HD to the game, I would be a buyer (Unless it's not Super Mario Sunshine ).

How about a Mario Party HD collection?

1,2, and 3 can be in one while 4,5, 6, and 7 can be in another (to keep the price down).

They can make it to where when playing a board game, it shows the stats on the Wii U gamepad. Would be interesting and something different

It's still kind of weird to see people actually want more WW. I mean, I love the game, but im referring to when the internet basically had a huge tantrum when the game was first revealed.

They probably will too. They've already been re-releasing a lot of GC games on Wii for the controls with the New Play Control! series. So it's obviously an avenue they're open to.

whoever mentioned 'super mario sunshine' is onto a good thing.... hmmmm... imagine not onlly hd, but using a wiimotion plus controller and nunchuck at 60fps!!!

i never finished it due to the dual stick controls, and think it would just perfect that game.

I agree that many Wii games will look dated as time goes on. However Wario Land: Shake It!, Kirby's Epic Yarn and Mario Galaxy 1&2 will not. Kirby's Epic Yarn is the only Wii game I've played that actually looks better when viewed on a larger television. Hell, Wind Waker is nearly a decade old and it still looks bright and crisp. It's all about art direction.

Of course we will. Considering the Wii had New Play Control! and Wii Editions/etc, I could see it. And DS/3DS got re-releases of N64 games.

I'd want Gamecube games to be downloads, so like, Pikmin HD would make more sense as a $10-15 eShop title, unless it was a compilation/substantial remake (like adding the stages back to The Wind Waker), but Wii HD games should only exist if they are collections, and probably retail.

Super Mario Galaxy HD Collection would be great (and have SM64 and Sunshine with the Galaxies), Metroid Prime Trilogy HD, Pikmin HD Collection, The Legend of Zelda HD 30th Anniversary Collection, etc.

I wouldn't have use for most of this stuff, but it would make sense and Nintendo would do it.

This. People can whine all they want about how 'art style' is irrelevant in topics about NSMB and stuff, but art style is what can truly make a game look timeless. The Wind Waker is almost 10 years old and it still looks amazing. Twilight Princess is going to look like crap as soon as the next Zelda is out (and honestly, SS already made it look that way IMHO). Epic Yarn and Wario Land will *never* look dated (though HD would certainly make them look MORE gorgeous).

Hope there won't be too many, although a few would be nice. I mean, I'd love to see a Luigi's Mansion HD rerelease or even remake on Wii U, they could use it as a tie in to Dark Moon when it comes out in 2013.

If that did happen, it'd just make me even more annoyed that Nintendo didn't allow for Wii games to automatically be upscaled to HD, like the 360 does for some Xbox games.

I'm Kinda surprised Nintendo didn't announce any for the launch window. I guess for the Wii U it's going to be different then the 3DS.

They were probably going to release a Galaxy HD collection to pull in Wii U sales but after the lukewarm launch for 3DS they realized they needed something else and actually made NSMB Mii into a real game and made it look better.

I don't really want Twilight Princess to be on 3 consoles, but I would love to play it with SS controls instead of the waggle.

As for NSMBW, my beef was just that whenever someone says "NEEDS A BETTER ART STYLE" someone else pops up angsting that art is irrelevant. Yeah, NSMBW looks good, but I think it would've benefitted from a better/more fresh style. Wii's will eventually look kinda dated. Right now it looks fine, but Mario games usually last a while before looking dated. PS1/N64 era was different in that 90% of the games on both looked dated the second the next generation truly began.

But yeah, Wii may have a lot of games that don't look as 'good' as PS360 graphics but *damn* the 2D games were amazing.

I also think that Punch-Out was an amazing 3D game. I still can't get over how cool that looks.

I want to see more 2D-HD games and games with graphical styles like TWW/SS or Punch-Out.

Upscaling is not the same as what we're talking about at all. For evidence, put in any PS2 game that has been remade and upscale it on your PS3, then play the HD collection version. The upscaled versions can look even worse at times than the original.
