Dorkly comic - Videogame Companies Are Your Friends

Postby LegendofSantiago » 17 Aug 2012 22:47

Doing "mature" stuff sounds a bit dirty to me ;)
Reading all of them this one probably seems the nicest, other than the valve one which i have never really gotten.

I would add that "friend from childhood" also refuses to do anything that you both haven't already done before, and if you see a good movie together, he insists that you both rewatch it again and again."

Also, I laughed hard at SEGA..

@LegendofSantiago
Valve is extremely customer friendly. Do a little research, Gabe has said many times that Steam was created to make pirates customers again. He believes that a good customer service is what sells online games, and Steam does that so well it's become an art.
Valve also continuously works on updating games. Just this Wensday TF2 got a new game mode and that game was released 5 years ago. It's also a great place to work because of the group system Valve uses, which shows even more dedication and love in every game and update Valve releases.

@Delta46 I have steam, and i use it every once in a while. Yes, they are awesome, but i don't see why the internet loves them as much as they do. Maybe it's because i don't like PC gaming that much...that's probably it :P

Hey the site itself says "anything you say can and will be misquoted against you."

On topic, I find myself agreeing with most of these in some ways.

That description couldn't more spot on with the friend made for Activision. The harsh truth on how I feel about them.

I have a friend that is like Activision and I think I'm Nintendo. My friends don't invite me to stuff like Vegas trips because they know I'm not for gambling or drinking and man-- they do treat me like the little brother despite me being older and taller than them.

The EA, Blizzard, Activision, and Zynga ones are amazing, true, and made me laugh, lol!

As for SEGA... eh. It's kinda true, but at least it seems SEGA is on the turnaround. Plus they do have the AWESOME Total War franchise.

The Valve one is so freaking true. Their games are sooooo good with so much awesome (unlimited?) content (a lot of which is free). Their prices (especially on sales) is freaking cool.

Yes, "mature" games for "mature" people, because of all the swearing, all the killing, all the gore. All that's for "grown ups" that are so sure they're "adults" now that they just can't really let themselves play a game based around solid fun. Nope, to play a game when you're an "adult" it has to be a very "mature" one.

They'll realise how silly they're being once they really do grow up I guess.

Comics were pretty funny though.
But a cat for "loyal" and "friendly"? I guess the cats they know have a case of the dogs.

I dunno. They could have at least taken a jab at how Valve seems incapable of making something that's not in a first person viewpoint. Or take micro-transactions too far. Or take forever to make a sequel. They're not perfect.

My favorite part was that Sega is wearing Sonic shoes.

Well, Alien Swarm is top-down, at least. And free.

yep, agree with EA, blizzard, activision, zynga. capcom should've been featured in this as well i think. SEGA i love but that is a true description of them- really hoping they do turn things round and that they support the wii U with quality games.

@Waynebrizzle
I agree with you on the first person thing, but is that really a bad thing?
The microtransactions thing is wrong though. It's only in TF2, and not needed to win.
These things take time.

They were just complaints I'd come up with off the top of my head. I typically don't make a habit of coming up with complaints for companies I like, so I guess they weren't very good ones.

I love Valve, but they're not perfect. They're just.... better than most developers.
