Oh my god, really? I was so worried I mean since when have DS games been compatible with 3DS games? Thanks Nintendo, I can now rest easy knowing you will always be there to point out the obvious.

North American Pokemon website updated for Black and White 2

@NintendorkZ You'd be surprised at how many people wouldn't know that... Many people didn't know the Wii could play GC games.

And PLEASE tell me Black 2 and White 2 are just placeholder names... At least do like Dark Black and Light White or something

Dark Black and Light White? That doesn't make physical sense, since Black and White are the darkest and lightest visible colors respectively.

I'm pretty sure these titles are going to be kept, but if they're changed, I'd expect them to be something to the effect of BlizzardBlack and FlareWhite. Which reminds me of an entirely different DS game getting ice- and fire-themed games this year...

Nice to seem them acknowledge its existence so early.

Maybe this time we won't have to wait over a year after its original release for it to FINALLY make it over here like we did for all the other pokemon games...

nah, who am I kidding?

I think we're all confused:

1. Why are they being released on the DS?
2. What are these games to begin with? Are they Grey Version A and Grey Version B or are they genuine sequels to Black and White?

The first one will likely never get an answer, of course.

Inazuma Eleven 2: Blizzard and Firestorm. They released in Japan 29 months ago, they'll release in Europe next month, and America...

"Inazuma Eleven? What's that?" - Nintendo of America. In fairness to them, if they're not releasing it here on the assumption that Americans don't care about soccer, they're probably correct.

Judging by the 'new mysteries' tagline and the gigantic '2', I'd assume that they're sequels.

I assume so as well, but I don't want to get my hopes up too high because they have never done anything like this before.

North American Pokemon website updated for Black and White 2

Postby Barto » 26 Feb 2012 00:59

I think we need to start thinking a bit more realistically here.

The reason this is coming out NOW for the DS and not the 3DS is because the game's formula and "engine" is already in place because of black and white.

If this isn't making sense it's because It's late and I'm tired.

If this were to be on the 3DS, they would have to completely overhaul the way the game looks/plays and everything.
That's something to be saved for the next generation, but for now a sequel makes sense on the DS. All of the assets are in place.

Who know's what Pokemon on the 3DS would look like? I for one would like to see them move away from sprites and give us those beautiful models from the Pokedex 3D app.

North American Pokemon website updated for Black and White 2

Postby MoldyClay » 26 Feb 2012 01:23

@MrDuracraft

It's a sequel. Black, Black 2. Like Galaxy, Galaxy 2.

Weird names are reserved for remakes.

@Barto

This. Anyone expecting a 3DS game was kidding themselves from the beginning. If there was a Gray, everyone should've known it'd be on DS with "3DS enhancements". They weren't going to just abandon the 5th gen framework.

@XCWarrior

For what reason?

What if it was 3DS exclusive but still looked like Black and White on DS? Would that really have made a difference?

@Radiant

1. DS has a huge-ass install base. Everyone owns one. The quickest way to make millions of dollars in a few days is to release it on DS.

This way, DS owners, DSi owners and 3DS owners can all buy/enjoy the game.

The 3DS isn't owned by enough people. And while Pokemon may be a system seller, it's still safer to be a DS game.

2. Seems like direct sequels.

So basically, it's like Gold/Silver, but without new Pokemon.

@ninjablaze

Only took 6 months for B&W to come here. And I feel like the same for D/P.

I feel like this may be an international release.

@MoldyClay

You're right, I guess I just get impatient and kind of frustrated when after all these years and all these hundred million dollar successes they still don't bother closing the release gap and trying to make it at least a somewhat simultaneous release (within a couple of months).

It's not like they're taking a "wait and see" approach they do all so often to see if they want to bring something over here...they know they're going to, and they know it's going to be huge.

I don't know, I know it's a small and stupid thing to complain about it just annoys me for some reason

North American Pokemon website updated for Black and White 2

Postby led-naruto » 26 Feb 2012 02:09

So much dislike from these guys here, what's the problem with having a sequel of the series anyway? I would like to know what happened to N, where did Ghetsis go, why did he left you the Orbs for Dialga, Palkia and Giratina, if Bianca will be a Pokémon Researcher or not, whatever happened to the other characters related to Team Plasma (the Harmonia sisters and the Shadow Triad) and... why are those two creatures look like a mix of Kyurem and Reshiram/Zekrom?

Nintendo isn't even in charge of Inazuma Eleven, so why are you even attacking them for not having interest in releasing the games? :lol:

Oh right because Nintendo of Europe is releasing it. Let's not get into this crap again, we already went there with Solatorobo. Besides Nintendo of Europe publishes a LOT of games that aren't really their properties.

Case in point:

I'm thinking more of Fusion Black and Fusion White.

Don't know why, though.

I'm aware that Level-5 does Inazuma Eleven. I'm quite a fan of them - they did Dragon Quest IX and Layton, as well, both of which having been localized by Nintendo. Level-5's Akihiro Hino stated that he wanted to release Inazuma Eleven in America, and that, combined with the fact that Nintendo releases most of Level-5's Nintendo-system titles and that NoE did release it in Europe, it makes perfect sense to believe that NoA turned him down.

And I'm not especially displeased yet, since Inazuma Eleven 1-3 are region-free anyway and with the rate that I'm losing interest in gaming I'll probably not even be around for the eventual release of 4/GO!.
