that's sweet and all but let's not forget that all the "graphic"s in smb would hold on the common gif found on various forums. it's not pretty , and ride an insanely well done promo campaign . So i'm not really looking forward to their next games , i am sure i'll end up paying for it like for smb and the various bundle it found its way in .
2go is bigger than certain ps3 games , oh yeah shocking size and good games do not have a direct link on the size part.
Without the massive difference in bluray and dvd i wonder what 's going to be the reason now for the wii u . They certainly cannot think the ps4 will have much more place. Oh i forgot the bluray playback .

Team Meat - 3DS eShop has 2 GB limit, interest in bringing n

I agree with them, 40MB for a WiiWare game size is damn horrible. It's a miracle that service got decent games like the Bit.Trip series, Lost Winds 1 & 2, and a few others. Wii U should fix the file size/limit issue once and for all.

:O That's even worse! Games on the Wii should be much higher than that... :-/

Yeah that's Wiiware. DSiware's limit was actually 16MB.

Team Meat - 3DS eShop has 2 GB limit, interest in bringing n

Postby MoldyClay » 27 Feb 2012 00:17

2GB is the same limit as XBLA. So by default, any game that can be done there can be done on eShop if a company wants to give it to Nintendo fans.

@TooManyToasters
@mushroom_mage

You two realize Team Meat is only 2 people right?

And that Ed did make Binding of Isaac since then. And it is getting a sequel/expansion thing with new bosses.

Super Meat Boy is only just over a year old.

@Vidaluko

Yes it is.

And since we're on the topic of limits, get this guys:

Microsoft will also not lift the limit (of 2GB).

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is not on XBLA because it's 2.1GB and MS won't allow it.

One option, which Capcom went with for Resident Evil 4 HD and CVX HD is to change it to a "Game on Demand", which has no limit. But the trade off is, the game had to cost $20.

The whole concept of having no limit on one thing and a limit on another is absurd to me.

@link29

Why would Team Meat know?

SEGA put Generations on 3DS, so it's not like they aren't supporting it.

There's really no reason, though. To answer your question.

No, Wii Ware had a 40mb limit. That's the limit that kept Super Meat Boy from hitting WSC, due to them thinking they could bypass the limit Nintendo set.

This is because on Wii you could only use up to 256mb of your storage on your console due to the OS taking up the other half. And because the Wii doesn't stream content directly from the SD card.

Team Meat - 3DS eShop has 2 GB limit, interest in bringing n

Postby HipHopGamer » 27 Feb 2012 02:00

Well at least its better than the ridiculously stupid 40mb limit on the Wii.

@MoldyClay

"Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is not on XBLA because it's 2.1GB and MS won't allow it."

They should just release it as a Games on Demand title. Their isn't a limit on that one.

It's too bad Wii-only owners didn't get Super Meat Boy because Nintendo's insane limit. Here's hoping they release the game for either the 3DS or Wii U, because it seriously deserves to get to as many people as it can.

So many titles would be a lot better if Nintendo increased the file size somewhat, even to just double. The Monkey Island ones suffered badly because of the incredibly stupid 40MB limit.

hows this for an answer then

Because Sega seems to be putting this game out on systems that already have established userbases... kind of like the whole Pokemon BW2 being on DS thing? It's not like they put Ep 2 on Vita either.

And yet the 3DS can handle a game like Resident Evil Revelations?

Very reasonable size limit. If developers can't fit this then maybe they're doing something wrong.

@nuckles87n have you seen footage if it? It looks less graphically impressive than sonic colors on Wii and the 3ds is more than capable of holding it and running it

How to make your crummy third party games stand out:

Step one: Say you will release it on a Nintendo platform.
Step two: Flip Nintendo console owners the bird and release it on every other console under the sun.
Step three: Profit.

i love the "we didnt want to release it as a disc based game for wii, it would be too expensive...so we released it as a disc based game for pc instead, where you could already digitally DL it"

I wouldve never picked up the game if it wasnt for humble indie bundle...

We don't even know if they will yet, SEGA likes announcing last minute releases. Either way, is S4E2 on mobile devices this time? If not, maybe it's the hardware that is to restrictive this time, it's looking way prettier after all.

Sadly this is too true, it reminds me of the Angry Birds guys. But as arrogant as they are, Team Meat is worse.

Any self respecting decent person who knows Team Meat personally hates them. They are just assholes, making fun of people with downs syndrome like an episode of family guy (or a non-witty South Park).

SMB was supposed to be a wiiware game originally, they were well aware of the size limit and could have built around it, but rather than showing loyalty to the ones that believed in them they chased that old M$ money. Let them port/develop for WiiU, I hope nobody supports them.

I tried SMB on steam, it's really not that good anyways, at least not compared to similarly priced software on the service. If they dropped the price to say $7 (making it $3.50 or so on sale) it'd be a fair buy on ssale butt until then, no. There are far better/cheaper indi games on Steam alone, and the PC market at large.

The Wii Shop has some price drops, temporary but still.

That Sega sale a year ago was cool, but that's been it. Steam/PSN has sales EVERY week. That's what we need, if you count the DSi stuff I think the library is big enough to offer a "title of the week" or something at a reduced cost.

And that's needed too. $2 for a Game and Watch game is absolutely insane, and many titles aren't priced any better.

Unless you're a Sega developer you have no insight on this.
I don't see why they wouldn't be able to downgrade the game ala Generations.

But actually this is really good news! 2GB is huge for a downloadable game, bigger than many packaged games. This means developers can put just about anything on the eShop.

I just hope it doesn't encourage sloppy programming and bloated files.

S4E2 will be on mobile devices, but on Android it will only be available on NVIDIA Tegra devices and the iPhone 3GS/4/4S is also capable of better graphics than the 3DS, so there's that.

It is possible that it will be ported later on though. S4E1 got an HD iPad version last year and it was also released on Steam last month.
