It's gonna launch at $249; because it has to. They're dead if they launch at $259, I think they're toast then. I think they're toast anyway. Wow...Pachter is really coming on strong with this Nintendo hate. Or should I say a negative outlook for Nintendo. Either way, he's starting to sound like less of an analyst and more like a Nintendo troll!

Why would the Xbox 360 with Kinect bundle even be a threat to the Wii U...? That thing's been out for a long time now and anyone who's interested in the system already has one (and not a lot of gamers even care for the Kinect and would prefer the bundle with more memory than 4GB).

Am I missing something here? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

nintendo has already justified the higher cost of the wii u... stop thinking of the wii u as a high def wii... if that is all it was then kinect would be a better value (high def and motion controls) but pachter is forgetting greater innovation with the tablet controller. pachter is in disarray.

When the Wii prototype was shown at E3 2005, I don't recall a price being told. The Wii U prototype was shown at E3 2011, same situation. I don't see why he's thinking lack of price detail now is going to make everyone go "LOL NOPE".

And really, losing to the Kinect? That's like comparing a web cam to a tablet PC.

Please stop posting the garbage that Pachter says, thinks, believes, predicts, etc.

Reading negative comments like his are blatantly used as flame bait and to get hits, because everyone knows negative comments draw more attention than positive ones. It's no different than celebrity gossip and hazing that you find on magazine racks.

I'm beginning to think I should start my own Nintendo news blog so that I could post real news rather than the negative bullshit that spews from Pachter.

If RMC only posted "Real" Nintendo news then this site would hardly ever be updated, Official Nintendo news does not happen every few hours. I like these post, becuase they give us a chance to talk to each other as a community

I think he's wrong, obviously. Here's the thing:

Xbox+Kinect for a lower price will not beat out Nintendo+Mario for a competitive price. This is a universal truth of gaming and whether or not people want to admit it is irrelevant. Nintendo + Mario = Money. Mario (Kart, Party, Tennis), Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, Pokemon, Smash Brothers, you name it. Nintendo's got them and nobody else does. This is their greatest strength regardless of how many Nintendo haters will tell you these franchises aren't relevant anymore. Nintendo has never stopped putting out fantastic first party games for their consoles and that isn't going to stop with the Wii-U.

Also, seriously? The Kinect? That's what's in the way between the Wii-U and financial success? Not to mention that the idea of knowing a consoles name and functionality but not its price is hardly a revolutionary concept. Vita, anyone? The system was announced months before it's pricing was announced. Pachter really needs to get his act together. I'd say "back together", but I'm not sure he ever had it to begin with.

The story linked as the source was posted today and it says that these comments were from an address that Pachter gave on Thursday.

"Michael Pachter, Managing Director of Equity Research at Wedbush Securities, gave the keynote address at the [a]list game marketing summit in San Francisco on Thursday, and he had a number of provocative observations for the assembled crowd of game marketers."

So no, it's not a repost and it's not old news. Maybe he has said similar things in the past.

Lol the Vita's real price wasn't announced until later. $100 memory cards is a joke. Same could be said with 360 HDD's, ect. I trust Nintendo won't be doing this with the WiiU.
