They should just wait until E3 like the rest of us.

People say Youtube takes the cake in terms of stupid, negative comments, I'd argue that yahoo is by far the worst.

And what was that 3DS comment about? 3DS is selling like gangbusters, outselling every other console PS360 included, & this is something Wii U must avoid? This is what happens when assumptions replace facts, same with that "on par" comment, that's something from an unconfirmed source that might as well be a troll.

Check out the heading on Yahoo.com
"Concerns grow over new Nintendo console
The core gamers Nintendo hopes to win over with its handheld seem "decidedly un-wowed" thus far.".
Wow, a handheld huh?

So, Nintendo proves that even with under-powered and inexpensive hardware that they can kick the collective asses of all of their competitors, (a feat no other company has managed to do since video games were invented), and all of a sudden everyone is predicting a failure for a system that we know very little about so for, including complete specs, price, and aesthetics? Are people that butt-hurt that the 3DS did not fail like they thought it would? I guess no one likes to be proven wrong, but damn, this is just beating a dead horse with a rusty hammer at this point. As someone before me so eloquently posted, "Haters gonna hate!".

Yahoo! takes negative stance on Wii U

Postby brancaleone » 30 Apr 2012 19:58

while yahoo is not a respectable voice in the gaming industry, this is about correct!

"If Nintendo hopes to avoid a similar debut for its Wii U console, the company may need to make a drastic change, though it remains unclear if they are ready to do so."

yahoo is being read by mainstream people, and these matter more than the few core fans of nintendo in today's business environment.

This is not even Yahoo! It is from a website called "Tecca" which talks about helping you get the most of technology out of your life. Articles on the Tecca website include features about tablets and "Getting the most out of the Safari browser."

The article itself is tripe. It recycles info from one year ago, incorrectly makes sales statements (articles talked about Call of Duty not selling as it has in the past), and really adds nothing to the conversation.

If you posted that on some sites, you would get banned (or at least warned) for not adding to the conversation.

WTF!

Why would they not want to successfully launch a new console into the number one spot?! That's a confused assertion on top of a false premise.

Yahoo! takes negative stance on Wii U

Postby MrGameBoy » 30 Apr 2012 21:00

So according to all the comments, the article is outdated and is riddled with incorrect information? Okay, don't need to read it. Also, isn't Yahoo! the source that gave Batman: Arkham City a 6/5 review score? (Yes, you read that right: six out of five.)

In my opinion, I think Yahoo! should be the one worrying about maintaining relevance, especially given how shoddy its email services and other features are.

Leave it to Yahoo to hire PS3 fanboys to write Nintendo articles. The employers over there obviously don't know what good writing is. (Case in point: look at the Yahoo! Sports blog.)
Time for the lightning round...

I think we'll see third-party support more towards the beginning of the console's life, more in the form of PS360 ports than anything else. If the Wii U ends-up selling like the Wii did, then I could see Japanese developers throwing more of their weight behind Nintendo this time around. Given the success of the PS2, they bet on the PS3 last time around, and this time I suspect that they'll be more inclined to hedge their bets a bit more, given the success of the Wii. Well, either that, or they'll continue placing emphasis on portable gaming.

So I think things will be at the very least at the level of Wii's support, perhaps a bit better from the east. But I don't see western developers ever jumping to Nintendo. I get the impression that they'd rather go bankrupt than work with Nintendo, as Nintendo isn't hardcore enough for their "extreeeemee" (*cue guitar riff*) Mountain Dew-flavored tastes. (personally? Boo-hoo if/when they go *poof*! ha!)

Same here. I'd dance in the Dindamn street if IGN or 1Up or G4 or GameStop or CVG etc etc ever announced that they were closing-up shop. Apologies to those good folks who'd lose their jobs at these places, but I can only return the utter contempt/dismissiveness/disdain that they've shown for Nintendo and its fans over the past decade.

Yahoo! takes negative stance on Wii U

Postby varoennauraa » 01 May 2012 12:07

1.5 Zeldas and Marios / console too much?
Vs 3 Halos, 3 Gears of Wars, 3 Resistances etc too numerous to mention?
$250?
On par with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360?
The abilities of the new tablet controller to wow consumers?
It's unclear if the company has a plan to win back the core segment?
HC players don't buy new consoles?
Well, I guess I'm not HC player then.

Theres a bit too much reliance on the concensus that the competition has created in media for my liking, all over the place.
