Ubisoft bringing 2 core and 5 casual games to Wii U

Coming from a GamesIndustry report...

Part of Ubisoft's success is expected to come from Nintendo's Wii U, launching at the end of this year. Ubisoft is a very strong supporter and is quite bullish on Wii U. The company will have five casual titles and two core titles. Guillemot pointed to the Avengers game slated for Wii U (and Kinect) as a title that should do very well with the casual market.

I wonder what Ubisoft considers Rayman Legends. I didn't think the Avengers game would be casual, but clearly I was wrong!

Ubisoft bringing 2 core and 5 casual games to Wii U

Postby LegendofSantiago » 15 May 2012 21:33

If avengers is one of the 5 casual games then that doesn't seem too bad. I don't really like Ubisoft, but rayman legends looks great and AC3 looks sweet as well. So far their Wii U lineup looks to be MUCH better than their line up for the 3DS (which was bloody awful). Now get on Rayman origins 3D so i can buy the game already

Ubisoft bringing 2 core and 5 casual games to Wii U

Well, we know they're bringing Ghost Recon, AC3, Rayman, and Killer Freaks to Wii U and I don't think I'd call any of them "casual".

I knew the Avengers game would be a casual one since it was first announced. All the talk of the game having heavy use of motion controls, and the need of it being on Kinect is already a dead giveaway.

I've never understood Ubisoft's habit of releasing so many games at the same time. So many of their good games underperformed because of it.

Poor Rayman Legends, doesn't stand a chance.

I think Avengers will be a casual game similar to the way Star Wars Kinect is a casual game.

These days, 'core' means effort was put into making it.

Rayman Legends
Ghost Recon Online
Assassin's Creed 3
Killer Freaks
Avengers
Just Dance 4

+ 1 more casual game? Sounds pretty good, actually.

so between killer freaks , ghost recon and assassin's creed , which killing experience is casual ?
jokes asides , they are bringing games , all their major ip and that's sweet . Except they are not bringing ghost recon main ip title and it's unsure about their others major ip like ..... oh yeah splinter cell and .....

five casual games : just dance , avengers , well rayman legends (platformers are casual now apparently) and probably two games i won't care at all because they will be horribly made or on a subject i don't care about

Is killer freaks confirmed for this year? If so then that makes me afraid of what they consider "casual"

Yeah I remember when they released XIII, Beyond Good & Evil and Prince of Persia Sands Of Time within two weeks of each other (I think GC version of BG&E was delayed by a month) and I was struggling to decide which one to get...I ended up with MK Double Dash instead and bought those three pre-owned later and I enjoyed all three of those.

That is why a lot of their new IPs die, they can be very good quality but they release them at bad times. No doubt if Killer Freaks... is release at launch it'll lose out to Rayman, Rabbids, AC3 and Avengers plus whatever the others have.

Not too shabby... For Ubisoft to be. One of the best Wii experiences was Red Steel 2 for sure. Loved that game.

Oh and who ever said Killer Freaks was coming this year....?

Ubisoft bringing 2 core and 5 casual games to Wii U

Postby Lausebub » 16 May 2012 04:06

The split of core and casual just depends who the buyers of the games mainly are: Casuals also buy Rayman games, so therefore it is casual as well. But not a lot of casual players would enjoy ACIII because of its deep gameplay, complex 3D world and storyline (You can't just jump in, after a long break.)

I think Killer Freaks and ACIII are their core titles.
Rayman, Avengers, Rabbids, Just Dance and another yet unannounced title are casual. A strong lineup, even for someone who wants to play great games. I'll pick up Rayman and AC for shire and depending on the reviews Killer Freaks.
Ubisoft is my favorite big 3rd party publisher right now. They are the least evil at the moment.

Why oh why would you (as many others) judge a purchase of a game on a review? And then what review? The one from Edge or the one from Famitsu...Perhaps Gonintendo? That would, from I gather, be three different scores. I just don't get it.

Come on, that's silly. Would you ignore the reviews for Superman 64? Games are too damn expensive and there are too many bad games to take such a risk.

Do your own research? I do with almost all the games I get. For those two Wii games I didn't, I was not very happy (Excite Truck and TMNT Smash Up) but for the rest, it was my own personal research. I formed my own opinion by reading about the games (from gameplay to story etc) and looked at videos and images to get a PERSONAL opinion. So far so good. That was the main reason I got MadWorld for example. It was my kinda game and after I played it even went beyond expectations (does have it's flaws, I know. But still great fun). So I never EVER go for a gaming purchase because of some guy's opinion whom I don't even know. The Wii didn't have demos, which was a bad thing, but I still got to make my own, personal opinion. I mean what next? Gonna ask some random guy on the street of which game I should get? What if we don't have the same taste in games. Reveiews are WAY overrated and with demos out for most games even useless...

Rumor has it that Splinter Cell is coming to the Wii U, but I wouldn't call that causal.
