A portion of a IGN review...

The fundamental Mario Tennis Open experience is sound. Camelot’s decade of tennis experience means they understand how to make the sport engaging and addicting. Using the 3DS’s touch pad or buttons for the game’s six types of shots is a welcome addition. The inclusion of a gyroscope mode allows players to strip away the challenging nature of cort position to focus on selecting the right shot for the occasion.

Mario Tennis Open - review

^I'm not. I want a game with high replay value. Something tells me this will get stale VERY soon. Time to look for another title. (For me anyway)

Mario Tennis Open - review

Yeah, gonna wait for a price drop on this one. If one ever happens...

It seems ok, just generally lacking in major areas. Oh well... will wait for 20$ or less.

Mario Tennis Open - review

Postby OprahFTWinfrey » 15 May 2012 22:05

To me, this game has "rushed" all over it. Almost all the complaints mentioned in reviews sound like things that could've been easily addressed with a little more dev. time.

At this point, I'm thinking I'll wait and see if they make any good DLC or patches to fix some of these issues.

I don't care what anyone says I'm still buying this game on day 1 and I'm going to enjoy the heck out of it. :D

Mario Tennis Open - review

I wasn't really interested in this to begin with, so this review has just pushed me even further away.

Lol indeed. Like Mario kart 7, this game was rushed. -_- Nintendo (or Camelot), it's good that you're releasing key titles but at least make something that lasts.

I was going to instantly buy this game until I did my homework and found out that it really does have rushed written all over it. Hopefully Toysrus does some deal with this later because there's no way this bare-bones game should be bought full-priced. I mean, just compare it to all the single-player modes and zany courts from Mario Power Tennis. What a letdown.

Also, you can't play doubles matches online with strangers. You can only play with friends.
Just be nice. Or else.

I too was going to pick this up. I've enjoyed all the past Mario Tennis and Golf games, but all these reviews are steering me clear of what should've been a great online/offline multiplayer game. Hmmmm, what to do...
