Random Time! - Tingle gets a fan-made game in Kakashi: The Search for Tingle

Kakashi: The Search for Tingle is a fan-made game that is being developed by Zelda in my Pocket as a side-project. It is an attempt to create a larger amount of popularity —especially in America— for the Tingle series as a whole. The game itself focuses on a character named “Kakashi“, literally the Japanese word for “Scarecrow”. Kakashi was first introduced as a character in the Vanpool title Color Changing Tingle’s Love Balloon Trip. He was originally an attempt to recreate the “Brainless Scarecrow” from the Wizard of Oz series, and was on a quest to obtain intelligence.

Talk about making a weird character even weirder! With that said, I'm all for this idea! I love to see fans make their own projects. I doubt NoA is going to stop this one. They seem to think most in the states don't like Tingle! Thanks to Matt for the heads up.

I loved the first game, actually made a awful character to become likeable...and it turns out he's all about the ladies on that game. The second game was meant to be a lot better but I guess the first tanked in Europe so Nintendo didn't bother localising it.

I own Rosy Rupeeland and Tingle's Balloon Fight.

Kinda sad that the 2nd game never made it to Europe or anything. D:

I really like his games, and I never had a problem with him. He's weird, but it's a Japanese caricature of older men who are young at heart (which makes them weird). Somehow, that got lost in translation with English speaking audiences and just took him as being gay/pedo, which is not the case.

And most of the stuff he does in the games are helpful. Gives you upgrades, maps and so on. Except Four Swords Adventures. lol.

And TBQH, while people complain about having to pay him so much to translate the Triforce Maps in TWW, I have to ask what else you planned to do with those 5000 rupees. There's virtually nothing to spend them on, and they replenish fast. Boo.

Anyway, I'm all for this kinda stuff.

Both of the Tingle games were fantastic. They're irreverent and off-the-wall in a way that we don't often get to see from Nintendo in the United States. I really wish there was an English-language version of Tingle's second game so that I could actually play through the whole thing rather than just messing around, though. Niche products are exactly the ones that should be translated and released worldwide. That's how they can maximize the return on their development budget. But Tingle is only considered niche in the U.S.
