Coming from Keighley's Twitter...

The next-generation of gaming is coming exclusively to Spike at E3. More details soon.

With the big push for Nintendo coverage on Spike this year, I'm hoping this is another Wii U-related tease.

Geoff Keighley - The next-gen of gaming coming to Spike

I highly doubt he's referring to Wii U, or anything Nintendo related for that matter. The reason I say this is because it's Spike TV we're talking about here.

As far as Unreal Engine 4 on Wii U, I'd love to see it happen and be announced at E3, but I'm not holding my breath.

@ryan82
Spike tv IS transmitting nintendo's conference. And I think they will have an interview with reggie and showfloor demonstrations.

http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=177586

I would be surprised if this wasnt nintendo related. I think geoff is just promoting the transmission.

I think it's referring to Sega's new console.

Spike TV is pimping the hell out of Nintendo this year, surprisingly. Wouldn't be surprised whatsoever if Geoff is talking about WiiU.

Would certainly be a nice change of pace. ;)

I expect nothing more than just an interview with epic games and some tech demos showcasing next gen graphics which the Wii U probably won't be able to handle (sadly).

I'd happily bet £100 that this has nothing to do with the Wii U.

Im definitely not a blind optimistic guy, but this has nintendo writen all over it (because of the exclusive partnership with nintendo), or at least not as bad as you make it seem (still no news of PS360 successors, plus the highly scalability of the UE4 engine).

By the way some people talk about "next-gen", it seems as if they aren't referring to the Wii U.

I'd say it's not about the Wii U. It seems to imply that it's something new. Otherwise, wouldn't they just say what it was?

At the very least it re-confirms that Sony and Microsoft won't be talking about next-gen in their press conferences.

This has nothing to do with Nintendo. Geoff doesn't get excited about anything that has to do with Nintendo. Whenever he deals with anything Nintendo related he's too busy making condescending remarks to Nintendo representatives while grinning sheepishly and downplaying Nintendo's successes while playing up the prospects of their eventual and inevitable doom. Classic Geoff Keighley right there.

No, most likely this has to do with one of his darling 3rd party companies he loves and gushes over who are ready to premiere the early stages of a game do out on the "real" next gen consoles in a little over a year or two. Or it will just be the flatout unveiling of the early plans for PS4 or Xbox 720.

@FrenchFryGuy

Sony and Microsoft both said that they weren't going to talk about their new consoles at this E3, so unless they're just lying to throw us off their trail (which could be possible), all signs point to this being related to Wii U in some way. And I don't see a 3rd party unveiling a game for platform(s) that haven't even been announced yet. Aside from maybe a game being leaked, I don't recall that ever happening in the gaming industry.

@The_King_Up_North

That's basically what happened with Killer Instinct when it was supposed to come out for the Ultra 64. It was announced so early that you see how that ended up playing out. It was even a running ad at the beginning of the actual Arcade cabinets before the title of the game popped up.

Also, this is basically what happened with Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Microsoft and Sony both know that they have to do something big to try and steal as much of the spotlight as they can away from Nintendo or else that will be all anybody will be talking about at E3. Unveiling early plans for their next systems is the perfect way to do it. They don't have to show off any actual hardware, just simply show off mock ups of how the games will look and provide details on possible features. Similar to what Nintendo did last year basically.

Again, this has nothing to do with Nintendo. Why would Geoff make what amounts to a no duh announcement about what we already know regarding the Wii U being featured at E3 and them covering it? C'mon. "More details soon" implies that it's something we don't know anything about yet.

@The_King_Up_North
....GT just released a video of theirs and Spike's E3 week lineup, and they refer to this "next-generation of gaming is coming" as the UE4 demo, which will air exclusively on Spike on Thursday. So unless its demoing on Wii U (not going to happen), or they make a mention during this segment that Wii U will be able to run UE4, this tease is not Wii U related.

..Just as I mentioned above previously.

EDIT: The video I'm referring to is on the site as the full E3 2012 Preview.

I don't see how the un real engine 4 could be considered the next gen of gaming. Maybe next gen of graphics, but not gaming
