Yet judgment didnt do that already?

Judgment, which nobody on the dev team wanted to make and Konami forced on them because their management has been sticking their heads in vats of ether for the past few years. God, I hate those guys.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate - tons of deta

Postby shingi70 » 29 May 2012 17:06

@HylianHeroLOZ

Revisionist history to keep the memory in tact of great Japanese devs while bashing ln western ones.

And what does be a Japanese studio even mean. Kojimas games are pretty western flabored from the start and other studios like cacom started some of the western trends.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate - tons of deta

Postby GeneticRepoMan » 29 May 2012 17:10

@MoldyClay
Well in the next few weeks I'll keep trucking at it and keep some of the things you said in mind! Such as the game getting better with the newer upgrades and what have ya.

Also to be honest, I think I'm wrong with my percentage, I'm only at the second boss (though I have gone back and played all the previous levels on the hardest difficulty available at the time). I'm thinking that's partially my problem. I think if I want to enjoy it as much as I possibly can I should just forget "100%ing" it and just play the story.

Stay tuned for future Castlevania articles, my final opinion may have changed!

Gameplay details sound AMAZING. I cannot wait to explore Dracula's castle all over again, and this time with different versions! Sounds sweet. Hype.

So..........................they're sticking Trevor Belmont, the star of CVIII on NES, into a "direct sequel to Lords of Shadow", a game whose storyline literally had nothing at all to do with CV? As the nerds say...."fail".

Also, while 2D is better, haven't they learned anything from the remake of Rondo of Blood on PSP? Polygon based "2D" graphics for a CV game, much less the mechanics, simply do not work well. Sprites are where it's at.

But alas.

@HylianHeroLOZ

Please don't bring Judgement up. That game was a steaming pile of s***, and proved to me that "IGA" doesn't really care all that much for the series after all (as if Lament of Innocence hadn't already proven that to me). I agree that these Japanese developers should quit handing off their franchises to western developers, with this backwards thinking that "maybe western audiences will like our stuff more if we give it to other devs to westernize them".

Either way, no thanks.

Exactly my point. They're taking the Lords of Shadow nonsense, trying to make it legit to the series, treating it as a "reboot" to the series, and now they're sticking in beloved OLD characters to make it actually feel like Castlevania.

Like I said. No thank you.

I'll pass on this.

At this point Monster Tale and Epic Mickey Power of Illusion are more Castlevania then "Castlevania" is these days.

Burning oil? Should be the typical holy water, eh?

Oh well. Lords of Shadow was a great game, but (again) no Castlevania for me. I missed some stuff in the direction and was not that happy about it being more Hollywood-LotR-like, rather than being the overdone, cheesy gothic-europe, just the japanese can deliver that way.

Anyways, I did enjoy it and I am sure this will be good as well. But bring back IGA please... or at least add some BEEF and flying medusa-heads in the game!

Nintendo Power's preview got me interested! 2.5D gaming is better than full on 3D so that's a start. I'm also not against a reboot that sticks some nostalgia factor in them like Trevor and Simon. For now at least, I'm cautiously optimist.
