Mine is SM3. And god damn if I didn't have a 4 paragraph story written and the power hic-upped from the rain, causing me to lose all of it.

You people don't seem to be judging the games themselves as much as you are their systems.

Was a toss up between SM3 and Yoshi's Island, but I had to give the nod to Yoshi's Island. Was really one of the best platformers I have ever played.

You people don't seem to be judging the games themselves as much as you are their systems.

Gasp! You're right, there IS a Nintendo bias here. Man, this poll is screwed.

People are voting for SMB1 saying how it's the first or SM64 because it was the first in 3D.

It doesn't look like you're looking at the actual game's funness, but it's impact on gaming.

I remember when I was a little kid. My family and I were eating dinner when I noticed a bag on top of the refrigerator. I stared at it for a second, and when my mom caught me she started laughing. I asked her what it was, knowing Mario 3 had come out, but not expecting it. She just started laughing harder, and i noticed whatever was inside the bag was yellow.

I never got gifts like this. Sure my mom bought used games a lot from Hastings etc, but new releases were not on the menu except around my birthday or christmas.

I jumped up and ran over to the fridge and what I held in my hands was childhood gold. I started to run to the lviing room to play it but my mom stopped me and made me finish dinner first. I have never in my entire life snarfled down Mac'N Cheese that fast. She laughed the entire time.

I went to the living room, opened up the game and played one of the most incredible games I had ever played. An actual overworld i could go around. The different suits, hammer bros, the shop, everything was so much more advanced than anything before it.

I don't remember getting most games. Hell I can remember this, and some birthday/christmas presents, but this one is insanely vivid.

My favorite Mario game is SM3.

Rock on, brotha. SM3 got my vote, too. A classic beyond classics in my eyes.

I loved that game. It would be second for me. SMS was just too orgasmic in terms of platforming.

Doki Doki Panic- Definately one of my favorite games of all time.

NOW ALL THE PIECES FIT!

Yoshi's Island. Every Mario game has a certain feeling of memory attached to it for me. I remember Yoshis Island as pure comfort and contentment.

I can't tell you I remember everything about it, but I know that what I got from that game was huge, and stays with me till this day.

SM3 is RIGHT behind it, followed by SM64.

1) Super Mario 64 - This game just blew me away
2) Super Mario 3 - Incredible variety in gameplay
3) Super Mario World - Very well pollished
4) Yoshi's Island - Loved the style of the game, one of the more challenging Mario games
5) Super Mario Brothers - Great simplistic gameplay
6) Super Mario Sunshine - I never really got into this one too much. I beat it, but I had no motivation to go back and collect all of the shines. The whole Delfino thing didn't do it for me, and I hated that all of the levels were pretty similar (all beach settings).
7) Super Mario 2 - In terms of art direction this game was pretty good. Certinally not a bad game by any means, but I just never really found it that fun.

SM2 is one of my most played Mario games. Probably in the top 3 as far as hours put into it.

If people would just give Doki Doki Panic a chance, they would see that it's more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

I personally never could get into the Donkey Kong Country games. I know they are really good, but at the time they came out I was more into RPGs on the SNES. I enjoyed playing the 3 NES Super Mario games a lot more back when they were released and I did like Super Mario Bros 2, but I liked 3 a lot more.

Mario is just more fun. It's longer, But I never had an SNES. Mario is immortal, I think the longer that video games go on, Mario will still be in the light. He saved video games.

Mario's NES days

Postby N5 Dragon » 11 Feb 2006 13:04

I had a debate with my cousin about what was the best NES Mario game. So i thought that the best way to resolve this ongoing fight was to ask the GoNintendo crowd..So here is the poll...
