I think this is a pretty good summer for movies, but far from the best. For one, the amount of comic book films feels a bit overkill. Anyway, I just saw Super 8 last weekend and it was really good. Total throwback to old Spielberg films, it has a lot of suspense but jam-packed with heart.
Here's my opinions on the big coming attractions:
-I'd like to see X-Men, as that's been given great reviews and I kind of liked the first movie.
-I absolutely can't wait for Cowboys and Aliens; I love movies that have such ridiculous plots they don't really take themselves seriously. Add two awesome action stars to the mix, and you have what's shaping up to be right up my alley.
-Not interested in Captain America or Green Lantern; they both seem bland to me.
-I don't like the Transformers films at all, and the third looks like it's doing nothing to change my mind.
-Since I've seen all the Harry Potter movies thus far, I'll probably watch the last one to see it through.
-Not at all looking forward to Cars 2. The original was quite possibly Pixar's weakest film, and I'm not really sure why it needed a sequel. I heard Monsters, Inc. was getting a sequel, and that seems far more fitting considering that one ended on a cliffhanger.
