Today I was playing Metal Gear Solid 4 (ugh, that Eastern European level is so friggin' boring...) while listening to music, looking at my tumblr dashboard and downloading episodes of Tiny Toons. My mom said it was too much, but I think she was secretly complimenting me...

I've occasionally listened to music, audiobooks, and/or podcasts while gaming. Usually not with first-time playthroughs, or games that feature more of a story, though.

I used to play Black Ops and when I was in the lobby or died and was waiting to respawn, I would hit up some Pokemon in front of me.

Now when I'm playing DK64, I watch streams on Twitch and swap back and forth.

I don't really multi-task when gaming, the best multi-tasking I did was once when I was chatting on my PC with a friend while we were playing Brawl online (surprisingly, with little to no lag).

On a rare occasion I will play music in the background while I am playing a game, but usually I want to hear the actual video game music.

Voted sometimes. Sometimes i stop to something else, then come back to end my game in general.

A lot of times when grinding in RPGs, I'll watch some TV/Movies or listen to music to help keep things moving. And sometimes when playing Smash Bros, I'll turn down the in-game music and play some of my own instead...not sure if that counts, but...

Other than that, I prefer to focus entirely on the game itself.

Most of the time I focus all of my attention to a game. I enjoy putting everything else aside for an hour or two in the evening and just losing myself in a game. But I also just like to be focused on one thing at a time anyway. That way I feel I've got the most out of whatever it was I was doing.

Occasionally if I'm grinding on an RPG like Pokemon and not going for any story sections I'll listen to some music, or be glancing up at the TV or something. B-Spec mode on Gran Turismo always struck me as boring and slightly pointless until I figured out I could have it on earning credits without my attention just long enough to let me get some decent studying/ essay writing done.

But 90% of the time, complete focus, headphones on, world cut off.

I sometimes mutitask, for example: I may be playing my 3DS while listening or looking up for a few seconds at the TV. I may additionally at times also be surfing the web on my other 3DS or Laptop if its in my room and not in the Living room.

It depends. On a more engaging game, like an RPG or something, it usually gets all of my attention, but for most online games, like COD, World of Warcraft and Mario Kart, I'll usually play on my 3DS or watch YouTube videos if there is any downtime.

The only games I can seem to multitask with are RPGs, wherein I mash A to grind and then coast all the way to glory! I'll usually put on the podcast or chat with folks on MSN while I do that, if I'm feeling particularly industrious I'll make some art at the same time!

The only time I really multitask is when I am playing a game like Pokemon I usually watch a show at the same time. Other than that if a game has the option to turn the music off and keep sound effects and dialogue I will usually listen to a album that fits the mood for the game. Star Fox 64 is the perfect example, turn the music off and go to cockpit view and you are in the Arwing listening to your tunes and destroying Andross!
