Zidane's Poll of the Week #338

Postby Zidane » 14 Jun 2012 22:28

Sorry that I'm very late. I kind of been lazy recently, plus my brother just graduated. I think I'll just make this an easy question. I've been to a Disney park in both California and Florida, so it's a go for me! How about you? Got any favorite rides?

"No, I have no interest in their parks."

I've always wanted to go to Disney World when I was younger, but as I got older that urge faded away. I have been to Universal's Islands of Adventure once, which is right by Disney World though. As well as Michigan's Adventure three times and Cedar Point more than ten times.

Well, I've never gone to a Disney park, but I'm sure as heck that if any of the parks has modern Disney stuff on them, I won't put a foot near the parks, even if they pay me to do so.

I've been to the tetralogy of parks at Walt Disney World numerous times throughout my life; I practically grew up there. Last year I went to Disneyland and California Adventure, too, which was a lot of fun since I hadn't ever been before. I've been a Disney addict my entire life, and I'm also an avid pin trader. My collection of Disney stuff is enormous, especially Winnie the Pooh-related stuff, my favorite. *sounds like a total weirdo*

I've always wanted to go to the Tokyo and Paris parks, largely because of their different structure in terms of cohesion and presentation compared to the American parks. Unfortunately I'm not sure when, if ever, that'll happen. Tokyo has an epic Pooh ride, too, which is just salt in the wound. Hong Kong is basically just copy/paste of Disneyland, so I don't care about that one, although Shanghai looks promising.

Define "modern Disney." Are we talking post-2000 or post-2006ish (or earlier)? Does Pixar count? If the majority is "classic Disney" with sporadic appearance of whatever your definition of "modern Disney" is, are you still interested?

I'm not interested in Disney at all, but my dad loves to go there, so we go on a family vacation every so often during the summer. We go to Disney World, the one in Florida, not Disney Land. Epcot is the best out of all of the parks. Besides the rides and the huge ball (the ride inside is not half bad too), there are areas with different countries within. The best place to go to is Japan. They have a store that has a lot of Pokemon plush dolls and a lot of Nintendo stuff, so it was like my dream come true. Too bad most of the stuff is way overpriced.

Oh yeah, all of the 4D short films scare the living hell out of me. Especially the one in the Animal Kingdom with the bugs, if anyone has been there.

No, I have no interest in their parks. I've lived in California all my life but have never made the trip to Disneyland. I'm sure I would have loved it as a kid but now that I'm an adult, I'd much rather go to an amusement park with less people and more rides.

That'll be from 2002, when Disney Channel changed the focus and started to whore the hell out of live-action series, and forgot the characters that made them Disney in the first place, since then, I pretty much don't care about Disney except all things related to Mickey Mouse (including, but not limited to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Epic Mickey), and to a certain extent, Phineas & Ferb and Kingdom Hearts, the latter because I haven't played any KH, but I reallly want to. And no, I don't account Pixar toward my hate to modern Disney, and I really like their movies, just keep them away from Disney Channel executives. But if the parks don't have modern Disney stuff or have very few modern Diesney content on them, I'll gladly go to them.
I may be screwing things, but Disney Channel has made me hate modern Disney, It's just like a friend told me once:
He said wrote:Ask someone of your age What do you think when you hear Disney? They will answer Mickey Mouse, Donal Duck, Goffy, Winnie Pooh, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, etc. Now ask the same to a kid that was born after 2000 and they will most likely answer you Phineas & Ferb, Hannah Montana, Jonas Brothers, High School Musical, etc.

see where my current hate for Disney comes from?

Haha, yeah. Did that one when I was 7. Good times.

Altogether I've been to Disney World 3 times. Twice pre-2000 and once last year. Magic Kingdom is pretty boss. But I really enjoy Downtown Disney (though it's not really a park). Massive LEGO store, anyone?

When I was young, I wanted to go simply because everyone else I knew had gone, but I was terrified of the thought of strangers wearing giant Disney character costumes roaming the grounds. Now, I just have no interest in going. Plus, I'm still a little terrified of encountering strangers wearing giant Disney character costumes. I'm willing to forgo a trip to "the happiest place on Earth" to avoid risking the highly unlikely possibility of being assaulted by a massive, mute Mickey.

The kind of attractions at the Disney parks are not like the stuff at amusement parks.
