i completed prime 1 in 100% scans and items in under 6 hours veteran mode a while ago. stopped playing, im back now.
veteran mode prime 2 shortly before quadraxis now, clocking in at around 5 hours. gonna finish this with 100% soon and then ill do the same thing to prime 3 :)

Be careful with 3, there are a lot of enemies that can be missed, the pirate shriekbat being the worst example. As it never respawns after you fight the pirates in the room it appears in. I would suggest using a guide/gamefaqs thing to get all the scans. I've 100%-ed before I played MPT, and I still messed up and had to go back through again to get everything.

100% completion is much easier in Corruption since you don't need all the scans.

Unless, of course, one were to see 100% completion as having all of the scans as well.

I just read yesterday that according to Nintendo, MPT is no longer in print. Get your copy while you can. Scumbags on eBay are already trying to sell the collector's edition for $100+.

I was holding out for the same thing, but instead I just picked up a "like-new" copy of the CE for $45....

I was planing on putting my copy back on goozex.com once I finished it, but now I think I'll hold onto it. Who knows, maybe by next year it will be just as much as earthbound. :-)

This metroid trio was excellent and the third was the one I completed 100% my first one through. As for the others I'll get to that one day.

Don't respond to comments hoping for Earthbound coming to the US. Or Mother 3 for that matter.

It was a good value and pricing it cheaper was a bit much to ask but I hope whoever is looking for one finds it at a suitable price.

CHAOSDRAGON, I know you're new here and all, but try to watch out for your double-posting. You've been doing it a lot. Every other post counts, so just be aware.

Anyways, I just beat Echoes and I must say... that game was FAR more enjoyable with the Wii controls. I still adore the GCN version, but the Wii controls really made the game so much less frustrating. The multiplayer still sucks though. :P

I feel lonely. Am I one of like... twelve people who enjoyed that mode or something? I can't count the number of times I had fun playing that game's multiplayer with friends, having a blast the whole time. (I wish they'd come out with a Hunters-ish sequel for the Wii that has these maps as a bonus, so we could have online fun with them)

(I'm sure M.O.M. will come out though, and when I play it I'll forget all about it) :D

I'm sorry I had no idea it was happening. I'm using the opera browser, do you think it may be doing this? As I only see one post when I go to view it. This came as a surprise. Would double posting consist of not waiting an adequate amount of time for others to post or a duplicate of posts? Because I only know of the latter.

No one loves the multiplayer but me and a select few why is this? It wasn't tacked on and it's quite fun. I wish I knew more as towards their dislikes.

You got me, I flippin' loved it. Just curious, but since we're on the topic, what's your favorite stage? I can't really pick a favorite (and stick with it).

The Metroid Prime Trilogy IS Canon

Postby tendoboy1984 » 03 Sep 2010 16:23

I ask this because in Metroid Other M, Samus never talked about the Phazon incident, or Dark Samus, or Tallon VI/Aether/etc.

Does Sakamoto even consider the Prime series to be canon? Or is it just a side story?

I always thought that the Prime series was just a side story. But perhaps in a future Sakamoto-directed Metroid game, he will acknowledge the events that happened in that series...

The games take place in the Metroid timeline BUT they are a side series. So the games are canon but the story isn't.

It's hard to explain. But it would just be easier to say that Sakamoto (one of the original creators) doesn't consider them canon as HE wasn't involved in their development.

OFF TOPIC: Didn't we go through this already in the Other M thread?
Finally got a PS3 sooo add me if you want. :)

Re: Are the Metroid Prime games considered canon?

Postby Devil_Rising » 03 Sep 2010 19:04

I would say the story is canon, considering:

1. It fits neatly inside of the time-span between Metroid and Metroid 2.

2. Sakamoto himself helped work on/ oversee the story of the Prime games. Since he's the mastermind behind the series in general, it would stand to reason that they are, in fact, canon. Prime 3, especially, helps give some (albeit vague) background into where Mother Brain came from (a prototype Aurora Unit).

On the other hand, Pinball and Hunters, are not, to me, canon. THOSE are "side games".

Pretty much approve what Devil_Rising just said, the only ones that aren't canon is Hunters and Pinball.
