$179 Wii? When did this happen?

At my local Meijer where I work, I overheard an announcement saying the Wii's price has dropped to $179. I'm not sure if this is an official price drop, or if it is just a temporary sale.

Maybe Nintendo is dropping the price to make way for the Black Wii bundle?

Is the Wii really now only $179?

Lots of stores are selling it at $179. Even bundling it with NSMB.

This is due to the fact that the new Wii is coming out with WSR+Motion Plus. They have to get rid of their current Wii stock.

Its probably a short sale, till they get rid of the old wiis.

I didn't know this! Good deal for those that haven't picked one up yet...even though the WM+ bundles are still the better deal. Can't go wrong wither either, really.

1. More games are coming out that use it Zelda and Flingsmash for instance plus the recent Red Steel 2.

no they're discontinuing the current bundle (wii sports) now all Wii's White and Black will come with sports, WSR, and a m+ in addition to what's already there for the $199 price. So no the white Wii is still available.

Actually, the black Wii bundle is a terrific value...

If you bought everything separately:
* Wii: $200 (before the "price drop")
* Wii Sports Resort with Wii MotionPlus: $50
Total: $250

The black Wii bundle includes all that stuff for the same price as the standard white Wii ($200). You save $50, which means you are basically getting Wii Sports Resort for free!
