Virtual Handheld --- Coming?

Weather this is the correct forum or not, I am not too sure but I've heard from another forum . . . . (nsider2) that a Virtual handheld system (similar to the Wii's VC) might be coming . . apparently from the newest Nintendo Mag. Possible?

I wouldn't be too sure about that. I mean, with lots of gamers expecting a kind of Virtual Console or as it can be called: "Virtual Handheld" as you said. It's probably just false rumors anyways. Besides, we haven't heard any official word from Nintendo about it yet, so I wouldn't be too sure if something like this DID happen probably per say around near or a little after GDC 2010. At least I hope so anyway. But if you mean Nintendo Power #250, then it COULD be possible.

I could see Virtual Handheld something for DSi or DS2 as in emulating gameboys...

Well the DSi(as does the ds for that matter) has more than enough power to emulate gb/gbc games and most likely the gba(though there might be size issues for a few games.) *hopes for Mother 3* I can dream cant I? But really, I dont see Nintendo making a "Virtual Handheld" unless they have need of moving more hardware.

There is no reason to limit the DSi to VC releases of portable games.

Why doesn't Nintendo just hurry up and allow us to play any VC games we've bought on the current DS systems? I mean, surely the DS hardware can handle anything on VC, and with DSi being SD card compatible it should be super easy to just take your favorite VC games on the go.

And then they COULD add Game Boy/Color/Advance Virtual Handheld service to both Wii (perhaps with a Super Game Boy interface? Or just normal full screen I don't care) and DS..

The above, and plus I'm not sure how easy getting the games to run on a DS would be. I mean I'm pretty sure the games on VC run in standard TV formats (like PAL, or NTSC, SECAM etc) but the DS runs on it's own standard (which is the same worldwide). So there'd have to be some kind of on-the-fly-converting going on during gameplay or, more likely, Nintendo would have to upload separate DS-compatible versions to their Shop. Which probably makes the idea in practice much more expensive/ painful than it originally sounds.
