DSi Browser

Does GN have a DSi or mobile browser friendly version? I like to check the site before I goto sleep and the dsi browser is not friendly to non-mobile optimized sites.

Short answer: No. The site looks the same across all platforms and devices. Be happy that it works at all on the DSi. With only 2 people (cort and tduck) doing almost everything on the back end of the site it is nearly impossible to test, let alone optimize, the site on every possible platform there is in the world. They are doing the best they can to get it to work well on all of those platforms.

My suggestion, if you have an iPod touch or iPhone available - use that. Or grab the stories through the RSS feed.

meh, was just curious. and I don't think it would require a backend re-haul, just pushed headlines/comment system to an iphone friendly layout ala kotaku and espn's mobile sites. it's no big, was just asking.

Wow, after re-reading my reply, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound so condescending - it was really late when I was writing that. Basically my point was, quite frankly there are many other things that cort and tduck have on their mind with getting the site to work than worrying about the DSi browser. I'm assuming that the traffic that comes from the DSi browser (and event the Wii browser) is so low that it probably wouldn't warrant a redesign.

glad you want to take us with you, but currently we have so few users browsing from mobile devices (or even trying to) that it's simply not within our resources to devote the kind of necessary energy to a version of the site for that amount of traffic. i do check on our stats about once a month, so maybe someday....

You can use this version which Google has adapted for mobile devices. Don't expect navigating the site to be any easier, but it will make the pages load faster at least.
