Let’s do some critical thinking boys and girls.

If the PS3 and Wii were switched, meaning Nintendo is making the $600 power-house system and Sony was making the lower powered system with the remote, would you still buy the Nintendo system and how do you think this would affect the next gen console wars?

Assume:
Nintendo announced their Wavebird-like controller with tilt sensors at TGS and Sony unveiled their remote shortly after.
The Nintendo system would still have the Virtual Console.
Sony still says their classic statements (ie “They’ll buy it with or without games”, “Next-gen starts when we say it does”, etc.)
The Sony console will be able to out put in 780p



My thoughts:
Nintendo would’ve lost me at the price and I’d own a 360 right now.

I would get a Playstation 3 if that was the case. Even though Nintendo has some amazing games. But they are still not worth 600 dollars.

$600? That's a non-starter. If no gaming company catered to me, I'd just sit out the generation. I have before, and I'd do it again.

Still, I couldn't imagine having to sit through Sony's bland 1st party games melded to a Wii-like controller. "Look, Warhawk! Wheee!" Blah.

I would have gotten Wii at any price up to $700, until they announced the wiimote, with motion which lost my intrest....I am still deciding if I want to drop PS3 for 360 since the added motion too....

I mean you can play any game just fine without motion....shoot rockstars ping-pong game is a great example....fun and no need to swing your arms like a bafoon.

Anything with that price tag has lost my immediate attention. I've always said that each console has their own elite breed of games and I would really be happy with any of them. If the PS3 were to cost what the Wii is to, then I would be looking at buying that instead, even without the controller.

For me, the wiimote is the icing on the cake, and to tell everyone the truth, without it, I would have to do much more consideration on whether I want to buy the Wii or not. There just aren't quite as many games that were on the GameCube that appealed to me, but with the controller, they would be much funner. That is basically what I am hoping for with the Wii.

What you can play Ping-Pong without a Wiimote? Alert the press the Wiimote is absolutley useless!:P

Personally everygame out can be played with a controller... motion is just a pipe-dream for those who dream of playing in virtual reality.

Controller has existed for years, and nothing can replace it....besides nintendos best games will not even utilize it...SSBB for one....thank god they didn't try to ruin it with motion.

It wouldn't make much of a difference.

Nintendo showed what they can do when they have the most powerfull system with the NES and SNES. I would pay as long as they are making the games. Nintendo would make games with great gameplay no matter the specs.

Just a side note, the Atari 5200 was more powerful than the NES and the Genesis was more powerful than the SNES (without the FX chip and the extra modes).

I am a teenager with no income, so i would forget about the console race and stick with the ds. It has reached a point in it's life where it is as good as, if not better than home consoles and it won't cost me $600. I love the wii, but i don't have enough money to buy it NOW!

People who'll tell you it's going to be sooooo cool to collect all your movies again on Blu-Ray Discs and UMD's are probably old. And bored, which means they're also not very awesome. This is why Nintendo will rock the world with the DS and Wii.

That is the problem with Sony. They are always trying to be the first with the new technologies that everyone grabs up. Unfortunately, they try to come up with new mediums and methods of enjoying the different forms of entertainment with everything they do and with every new generation of those products. You can't do that to people because sooner or later they are just going to get annoyed and pass you by every time.

I hate to say this, but I think Sony should just try to go with the flow for a while until things start to pick up for them. They seem to be going downhill and it is due to their attempts to do something different just to say that they are doing something different. People don't like change, at least I don't and I don't know many that do. The cartridge is just fine and we still don't have a need for either Blu-ray or HD DVD yet. I am sure we will by the end of this gaming generation, but is it that bad that we have two discs instead of one? I know Sony could definitely use the extra time to actually get Blu-ray working properly and efficiently. I hate to see things rushed just so they are out earlier than the rest.
