Was it "officially" confirmed? The only response I've seen was the very vague answer Nintendo gave. "We still continue to work alongside the team at Retro and no official announcements as to its status have been made," offered Nintendo in response.

Sure it is pretty terrible, but at the end of the day there is enough talent in and around Nintendo to replace those lost. If Nintendo wanted to close Retro then they would do so - and quickly - dispersing the workers around into other Nintendo studios (thus retaining as much talent as possible). Not that I see any reason Nintendo have to want to close Retro; Metroid Prime 3 was a major seller on Wii (certainly over a million worldwide) and Nintendo will obviously value that.
Apparently whatever project Retro were working on before hand is still going ahead, so no worries there. I think Retro will be fine. Really.

Nintendo seems to be shoving them down further into the pile and limiting their ideas. I don't know. I definitely hope that won't be the case, but I don't expect anything great from them any longer.

maybe they'll become nintendos second rare... until microsoft buys them, lol ^^

Yeah I think you are right. I just love this devloper so much. I hate to see anything happen to them and assume the worst when anything does happen.METRO!Dgamer wrote:Yoshii wrote:I personally don't think we'll be seeing the same kind of quality coming from Retro with this loss on their hands. Just because 3 people leave does not mean the quality in the games is going down... Those 3 can easily be replaced and there are many more people working at Retro that have tons of talent that goes into their games. I think youre overreacting a bit.

You act like that would be a bad thing!
