The DS was
NOT an experiment. It was a "third pillar".
It's directed at a different market than the GameBoy(while keeping in the gamers for both).
Of course there will be a new GameBoy. It's the most popular system series ever.
But Nintendo has never been in a rush to improve handheld technology because they know, as well as I do, that handheld gaming doesn't need good graphics. It just need good games that can be picked up and played at home or on the go.
First they had the GameBoy, then they added color while keeping the same graphics and everything, then they just made that smaller.
After that they finally improved the technology, or advanced it. Then added a backlight and eventually made it more compact.
Does anyone else see a pattern in the GameBoy line?
It's improve > perfect > compact > repeat.
So there will be a new GameBoy some day and it will be more powerful than the Advance.
One would assume that that will be part of the DS's make-over.
I'm also expecting more scratch resistant screens.
