Ocarina of Time 3DS

Whats better then one screen? Well two screens of course! Current-gen portables inside: DS, Lite, DSi, DSXL, 3DS...

Having an area in a game that you can mess up so you can no longer progress is a result of terrible game design. With that said, there is NO way you can mess the Water Temple up to the point where you can no longer progress in the game. That's a silly rumor created by people who probably aren't very good at the game.

Also, contrary to popular belief, I don't think the puzzles in Master Quest are harder. In fact, their are LESS puzzles, and most of them are just "find the disguised switch." The Water Temple is especially easier in MQ.

I'm glad to hear that it's a remake instead of a graphically enhanced straight-port. I'm hoping for at LEAST Majora's Mask style of draw-distance and onscreen enemies on the main field. After that, maybe mix it up a little bit, make some of the more 'awkward' areas more interesting, less floating platforms and more 'environments that make sense' in their place if possible, that sort of thing. I realize there might be some nostalgia that gets messed with if they remix it too much, but hey, you've got at least four other ways to obtain an 'original' version(cartridge, GCN disc 1, GCN disc 2, VC) so I wouldn't want to hold them back from a cool idea just to stay faithful to something that's already been faithful for so long.

It's fantasy. It's Zelda. Environments need to be believable to a certain extent, but they obviously aren't supposed to be bound by the rules of the real world.

One small thing I just realized is gonna stink is that the remake won't have the Fire Temple music I remember. D: I own an N64 copy with the original "chanting" music still in place. Later releases of the game removed the chanting since it turned out to be Islamic prayer chants, and Muslims didn't exactly like their chants being used for a place that basically looks like Hell.

I hope they work in new chants or something. Maybe Gregorian styled ones instead? (think something like the Halo theme, or just listen to this song in the link) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5p_U8J0iRQ

Could work.

Really? I had no idea those vocal noises were Muslim prayer chants... I wonder if Nintendo even knew about it.

they werent. they just sounded like muslim chats but actually, they were just ONE voice sample recorded and pitched up and down because the N64 cartridge didnt have enough space vor real chants. thats why all the msuci was midi too...

same goes for the gerudo symbol. so what, a star and a moon is copyrighted now?

i thought about the fire temple music, too. the one that they used to replace it in the later versions is lame in comparison to the original, but I would bet that it was churned out quickly to quell any controversy as soon as possible. It would be a real dissapointment if they didn't come up with something better for the remake.

After my last post saying I was on the fence about it, I can safely say now after getting to actually play a little bit of it I'm sold. It looks great on the 3DS. Very crisp, and the 3D effects really make a difference.

I don't get all this fuss about master quest being added... As far as I know it is just a harder version of the game, correct? Is it really that big of a difference or am I missing something?

The dungeons are remixed a little bit. It's not that the enemies hit harder or anything, it's that the dungeons and layout are a bit more difficult. I once had the GCN disc for a few months, and I seem to remember that they all felt very familiar, but you got turned around easily thinking you had to go the same way, but it was somewhat different and took a while figuring out again.

At the very least, I'm very glad to hear about Master Quest being included if ONLY so I can actually/possibly play the game again with at least some difference to it. The 3D part is cool of course, but simply reskinning it without anything else is kind of disappointing. Hearing that it has MQ included is actually kind of surprising and nice to hear about.

New Mode: Boss Challenge

At some point you'll be able to unlock the mode where you can do either of the following:

- Re-fight your favorite bosses
- Re-fight all of the bosses gauntlet style

I don't know why, but I think that alone warrants a purchase of it.

Well I heard that Master Quest was also being reworked and that first person would use the gyroscope.

But if you don't PM me right now what else in the game I will give you such a pinch.

Oh wow, I hadn't even thought about something like that for a Zelda game; sounds great! I think I'd do it just to fight Phantom-Ganondorf or his first stage... I dunno, I just like the whole pong-thing they do for him, but not enough to go through the whole sequence EVERY time.

..I still think having Master Quest included is my favorite part so far, but boss mode is a great inclusion.

Nintendo of Europe spilled more beans on Master Quest in OoT 3DS.

  • Puzzles are more challenging. We don't know if Nintendo is just reusing the GCN Master Quest puzzles or if they've made all new puzzles.
  • Items and enemies are in new locations. Again we don't know if Nintendo is reusing the GCN Master Quest placements or made all new placements.
  • NEW - Hyrule has been mirrored so what is on the left is now on the right and vice versa. This is not found in the GCN version of Master Quest.
  • Enemies are more challenging. We don't know if Nintendo is reusing the GCN Master Quest challenge or really cranked it up.

I assume since the puzzles are more challenging that the dungeons have been overhauled, but we don't know if Nintendo is reusing the GCN Master Quest layouts for dungeons or gave them completely new layouts.

Hmm. Can you say anything more about this, or has everyone who has witnessed this other "stuff" been sworn into secrecy? Also, by "more" I hope you mean another big feature and not something small. lol

it depends... i wouldn't get your hopes up, because what one person thinks when they hear "more" is immediately something big, but big is different for every person.

I'm honestly confused as to how a typical "Boss Rush" mode is such a big deal. Anyway, I'm still excited for this game. Probably the first game I'll get when I buy the 3DS.

found a secret in OCarina 3D.....not sure if this was added?

Postby bfx9 » 19 Jun 2011 12:21

at the front of hyrule castle, walk up the chain (either side) of the draw bridge,
stay at the top until night time, and when the draw bridge closes, walk across the lip of
the wooden bridge to the other side and you'll find 3 red rupees.

a quick way to get 60 fast to buy that hylian shield!

in love with this game so far.
