New Gameboy or stick with the DS?

Postby link0891 » 18 Apr 2007 20:32

According to Nintendo, the DS was never a successor to the GBA.

Should Nintendo make a new Gameboy?

No, What I think they should do is utilize that game boy slot on the DS and make more game boy advance games for the DS. They could even make games that utilize both the DS and GBA slots. We already know that the DS games can recognize certain games, so why not?

yeah! with the next DS they should make the gameboy slot play all type of gameboy games not just advance. and they should give devs the option of making better gba games...like "super" GBA. so your ds will play all gameboy games new ds games and the new "super GBA" games

I'm happy with the DS. There is no reason to go back to the Game Boy anyway, the DS is making a ton of money anyhow,

Like any business would say, you can't argue with sales firgures. And there isn't much to argue about with the DS's sales figures nowadays. Nuff said.

Nintendo can say all they want, the DS should have been the GBA's successor and it is with the problem being that it can't play GBC or GB games. I know there is a separate system that is supposed to be the GBA's successor so maybe the DS was just a test for something new getting people to totally think different rather than "another gameboy". I can't see them throwing out the touchscreen for any handheld in the future unless the the next big thing is actually better.

the way the ds is doing now, i think nintendo will stick with the concept of the ds for future handhelds. it would be stupid not to.

DON'T GET A NEW SYSTEM! THE DS ROCKS!

(But the one "bad thing" about it is that it can't play Game Boy Color games, so i have to keep bringing my SP everywhere, too...)

Anybody else with me on that?
That's awesome! So you can plan on me coming back for you someday.

I like the DS but there are a few games on the original gameboy that I like to play (Techmo Bowl, Mario Bros., etc.)

That'd be cool if the next handheld could play all of them and not just advance.

the ds is so much better in any way.

what would be kinda cool: nintendo could release official roms for gameboy-games, that you can purchase through the shopping channel.
then you put them on a sd-card, and put it in your "DS 2" and can play them.

with wiiware, people could even make oldskool gameboy-games that could be played on the ds 2.

i like the idea of new gba games, but it probably wont happen, scince they cost more money to make, and can hold less information.

It also might not happen because Nintendo sees there market in casual games and gameboy games were much more hardcore than DS games.

Haha. I've never heard anyone call a GameBoy "hardcore" before.

Nintendo will probably return to the GameBoy brand in the future, but likely as an amalgamation of old GB methodology and the new DS approach.
