Favorite Mario Game

Since Galaxy wasn't even announced when this list was made, I voted Super Mario Bros. 3. At the time I liked 64 better but after playing through SMB3 again I just couldn't put it down.

I went with Super Mario 3 it's probably my favorite game ever made. Super Mario world would be 2nd and Mario 64 3rd. Of all the 3d ones I'd go with Galaxy 2, the story sucked compared to the first but i thought the game itself was more fun. I'm a little suprised Yoshis Island got so few votes but i consider that more a yoshi game than a mario game.

From the games listed in the poll, my favourite Mario game is Super Mario 64. God I remember how many hours I played that game back in the early days of the Nintendo 64, I must have played it as much as I played Super Smash Bros Melee or Brawl because of how obsessed I was. Then when the DS remake came out, I spent another year and a half messing around in and playing through that.

For the games listed, I would have to go with Super Mario World. That was the first Mario game I ever played, and I still love to play it every so often. I never actually played Super Mario 64. I just got it about a month ago at a garage sale for $2. I'm going to play it right after I beat Super Mario Galaxy (I just borrowed that yesterday from a friend).

One quick question about the poll... how come it doesn't list Super Mario Land 1 and 2, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, any New Super Mario Bros game or Super Mario 3D Land?

I'm pretty sure quite a few people who posted here would have voted for one of those.

The poll was made before any of those games came out (2005) besides Super Mario Land 1 and 2. I guess the poll was only made for console Mario games?

No question my favorite is Super Mario Bros. 3. I've played the game off and on since I was three years old, learning new things every time I play it. I credit it as being the game that started me on the path to becoming the gamer I am today.

Handheld: Super Mario Land 2
NSMB: Undecided (Do not own NSMB2 yet, NSMBW was a better game than NSMB, but NSMB had better modes, Luigi in single player, and the blue shell...)
3D Mario: Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy 2

Kart: Double Dash!! or DS. Haven't played MK7 yet.
Party: Undecided (only played MP2 and MP6. I like both)
Paper: The Thousand Year Door

And I haven't played any spin-offs other than Mario vs. DK DSiWare and Mario & Sonic Winter Olympics. Didn't play any of the sports games (except Tennis 64. Also played Golf 64 and didn't really like it), pinball land or any of the other RPG games yet.
